We booked a night in this hotel expecting a wonderful relaxing time, sadly it was not quite what we had expected.
The first unpleasant surprise which they do not tell you about when you book is that they have no car park. After driving through a maze of tiny roads and one way systems we arrived to find no where to park the car. Reception then informed us that we would have to use one of two car parks (5 pounds not included in the room rate) and gave us a map to find them. Back out into the maze of roads and busy traffic we finally get to a car park, and begin the 10 minute walk back to the hotel with our bags!
Once back to the hotel we checked in to what is classed as a desirable room. The room was pleasant and clean, but I was expecting a king size bed, and wonderful shower for the price paid. Instead we had queen and a bog standard basic shower that was so furred up with limescale, not an awful lot of water came out!
After a night out we decided to go back and have room service as the menu looked good and stated that it was available all night. On arrival I checked with a staff member that it was still available just to be safe and we went up to the room. Once settled we tried to order only to be told there were only sandwiches available.
All in all it seems this hotel misses some of the basic things needed. The staff were efficient but not friendly and the doors in reception close so quickly they hit everyone (including us) that we saw try to go through them. We were very excited about our stay at Abode but I don’t think we will be returning any time soon. As far as value for money goes other hotels such as the Hotel du Vin group are much better. Very disappointing!
