Agios Stefanos Travel Guide: Agios Stefanos or San Stafanos

Written by Don Whyte on 27 Apr 2008 about a trip in Aug 2007.
Trip was for a couple on holiday. Don Whyte would definitely visit again.

Agios Stefanos shopping

5.0
We are not great shoppers so we aren't looking for large shopping centres. The village itself is small with a few gift shops and supermarkets. You don't have to walk too far for either... a blessing. There are more specialist shops including a jewellers and a decorative glassware shop. The whole resort is low key and most definitely not a bang it out and rip-em off kind of place.

Agios Stefanos nightlife

The night life is again low key and mainly based around the tavernas... Our opinion ... you can't beat a long leisurely meal with flowing conversation with friends new or old. There are a number of tavernas , Sunset and Barras where a troupe of greek dancers appear once a week. There are a number of bars that put on entertainment such as silver Star and Bar 38 that have live acts. Others such as Condor where karaoke and quiz evenings take place as well as tribute acts... Did you ever wonder what really happened to Elvis? The Thomas Bay Hotel has karaoke , quizzes and the most mental bingo nights ever. The staff are absolute nuts.

Agios Stefanos day trips

Never being ones to line tour operators pockets we make use of the two local travel agents. One of them we book our apartment and travel through. Both though offer trips much cheaper than thr TO's. If shopping is a must Corfu town is a must right down to Marks & Spencers.
If into the maritime life do try the boat trips from the local harbour. The one to Paleokastritsa is amazing. Captain Theos trip... find out for yourself. You will have a whale of a time.

Getting around Agios Stefanos

There are car hire and scooter hire places that all get good reviews. We dont drive at all so use the local bus. This is a must but alas, gone are the days when the locals would get on with a goat and a couple of chickens. By far the best way of getting around is walking. Walk up one side of the resort and head for Avliotes and the other for Arillas. The views are to die for, especially if you don't take water. Also, try to do this at the cooler times of the day. TIP... the night before freeze a couple of bottles of water ... these should last around 5 hours before thawing and guarantee you a cold fresh drink.
