Aguamar: Just great by Angela Mawhinney |
| Posted 31 July 2006 about a visit in December 2005 | Overall rating: 8.4 |
We've stayed in the Aguamar 4 times, once in the summer when there was a lack of sun beds but we got by, went for walks and sunbathed on the beach. The other three times we've been were over xmas. Yes, we spent xmas day in tenerife and it was brilliant - can't recommend it enough. The Aguamar is decorated, big tree in reception and xmas music around the pool. Staff helpful at reception and rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels. Supermarket and bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. taxi or stroll into las americas.
This year we're trying a different hotel in Los Christianos (just for a change, but my youngest son (9) wants to go back to the Aguamar). I know of a couple already booked into the Aguamar for this xmas 2006. In winter the sun only shines in a small corner of the area around the pool and the water doesn't warm up at all. Food good in Aguamar restaurant. One night they had fresh prawns and they were huge and delicious. Bar by pool does the usual bar snacks.
Good value for money.

Aguamar: Great holiday apartments by Colin Etherington |
| Posted 02 January 2003 | |
We had booked a late deal because we had to change our travel arrangements owing to a bereavement. We didn't know the resort or the hotel until we arrived. We wanted Los Cristianos, but had not read a review of the Aguamar. We arrived at 1am, dropped our cases and rushed across the road to Yella's Bar - they were still serving - hooray! We spent many of our evenings here - karaoke!
We were very pleased with the room, as we were half board and the fridge and small kitchen was a bonus. The meals were good by Spanish hotel standards. The safety deposit boxes are in a locked room on the ground floor. This makes it awkward to get cameras, money etc but at least you are confident that everything is very secure.
The Aguamar experience was excellent. The rooms are spacious and didn't get too hot despite daytime temps of 31 and 32. We were on the first floor, directly above the metal squeaking door to the safety deposit boxes, so our afternoon siestas were abandoned after the first day!
Other reviews mention the building site next to the apartments. Yes it is ugly, but it adjoins a large area of naturally barren rocky land which makes it look much worse than it is. There was no noise or dust when we stayed there.
The sun terrace was large and the freeform pool is marvellous. It wasn't cold as some have suggested. There is a rush for places early on, but watch out for the shadow of the hotel falling over the terrace as the day progresses. There is a rooftop terrace if you want to fry. It is very spartan but there is a small jacuzzi to cool down in.
There is a 15 minute walk down to the harbour area and you pass several bars on the way. One has a country singer most evenings - very good. The Chinese meals were quite good, but I reccomend a take-away from the Hello just opposite the apartments - good basic Chinese fare and large portions.
The bus stops are only a few minutes walk, passing the big supermarket and several English owned bars (and the Aberdeen Steak House - avoid!). Buses go to all parts of the island - have a ride to Playa de las Americas and walk back - great!
We would return with alacrity to these apartments.

Aguamar: aguamar by Tonto |

We stayed here in november 2000.
No complaints what so ever.
found them to clean and well maintained.
If you have young kids they have a kiddies club, it can be a bit quite at night as most people venture out for more entertainment.
The bars opposite are freindly enough, and your only a ten minute stroll to the beach or the centre of cristanos town.
