| I've just come back from Albufeira and while its not particularly lively in February, we got pretty decent weather and i would recommend it if you were looking for a lively holiday in the summer. Good points include the good resturants and the wide choice of bars, every meal i had here was very good or better. The beach is also excellent quality, although it's not really sand, it's more like a very fine shale.
The only two bad points i can find is that for one its too big and for the other its too hilly. Because its very spread out, it can be easy to book an 'Albufeira' holiday, and end up right up on the other side of the place, miles from the lively strip which is located in Praia da Oura, on the airport side of the town. If you want the strip, check before you book. Same applies if you would rather be in the old town or Olhos d Agua just out of town, which could also be classed as Albufeira. We had a good time, but it was quiet with only a handful of livelier bars. I would go back though, because if you know the score with Albufeira its hard to go wrong. It would be interesting to see it in all of its glory in the summer months. |
