Alcudia Pins: Holiday review by Elizabeth Collins |
| Posted 21 February 2007 about a visit in September 2006 | Overall rating: 9.1 |
Two adults, 60 and 45 and a highly active 4 year old arrived travel weary and two of us, definately ready for rest and relaxation.
Entrance lobby has fishes underneath the door entrance, which kept the 4 year old amused whilst we went through an effecient and frindly check-in service. A cheeky request to have a sea-view, was accepted and not even charged extra for. Leaving the reception following our free upgrade with a big smile, we then walked past the pools and sunbathing area, which were very impressive and vast, not to mention the squeels of delight from the four year old. So far so good, entrance to the apartments, had a walkway and lifts, so no heavy lifting of cases. Apartments, though on the small side, very pleasant, clean and welcoming, but the sea-view was superb - what a result. With such a lovely start, time to check pools, kids clubs, eateries, all lived up to our expectations, complex gates lead directly onto beach, where we made out home for the rest of the day.
So, how was the holiday, post the first day - excellent.
For my darling son, two choices of kids club with varied programmes and times, meant us adults got regular rest and relaxation, morning and afternoon, even occasional evening sessions. Laying on the beach was an acceptable place to be, kids club would find you if they had a problem, happily, they never had to find me during our 14 days. he loved the clubs, swimming and met many friends, so for him, perfect.
Evening entertainment was varied and enjoyable, for both adults and kids, when it rained - they moved us to an indoor venue. We were self-caterers, good choice of food in local shop and a few resturants around, so well catered for, especially as my son is a fussy eater. My 60 year old, found the complex easy to get around and local buses were plentiful, as she was not a sun worshipper, she loved being out and about.
Alcudia offered just enough to keep her happy for her weeks stay. She then abandoned us after a week, so I was home alone with my 4 year old boy in Spain!!! As a single parent I was anxious about holidaying abroad, but believe me, it was great, Alcudia Pins was a very relaxed and friendly place, I never felt concious about being on my own at any time and would definatley go there now happily on my own with my son.
For the three of us, it was a wonderful holiday and would certainly go there again. My only suggestion for a bigger family is, have a 2 bed-apartment. The one-bed is fine for 2 Adults and 1 child, but anymore and it would have been cramped1 You have been warned. Good luck.
