Alisios: Don't look anywhere else! by Iris Jones |
| Posted 24 February 2006 about a visit in February 2006 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
Just back from our second visit of 2 weeks. (our first was back in 1991 when the hotel had just been opened) Remarkably, they knew we were return visitors and there was a bottle of wine, flowers and fruit in our room.
If you are looking for a quiet, classy, well-run, immaculate hotel in an idyllic setting on the cliffs, overlooking the sea and with a private path down to the beach - look nowhere else! You will find nothing better in Albufeira. It is well worth paying the little extra for a sea-view room - sitting on the balcony looking out to sea you could well think you were on a cruise liner!
There was a lavish spread of fruit, meat, cheese etc. etc. for breakfast and bacon and scrambled egg was produced on request for no extra charge. The staff were, without exception, professional and friendly.
Unlike most hotels I have stayed at, everything worked! The heating (necessary at night in winter) never failed, the light fitments, television and hair dryer all worked and any request (e.g. extra pillows) was seen to immediately, not tomorrow (maybe!)
There was a large car park at the front of the hotel. A car, though not essential, enables you to get to the many lovely bays on the Algarve. We always book our car through Zitauto (zitauto@clix.pt) and have found them very reliable and reasonably priced. The car is always waiting for us at Faro when we land.
Finally, if you want bingo, beer and non-stop entertainment the Alisios is not for you - try the Strip instead!

Alisios: Fabulous by Richie Burdon |
| Posted 12 January 2005 about a visit in August 2003 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
Myself and my partner stayed at The Alisios in September 2003, and I am still missing the place. The stay was wonderful, the rooms are clean, the staff are fabulous, especially Paulo (The Barman). I had my birthday during my stay, and upon returning to our room in the afternoon, i found a complimentary bottle of wine with a card wishing me a happy birthday. My passport picture was circulated around the staff, and every member of staff i passed wished me a happy birthday. Very nice touch, and made the stay that little more special. The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful spots possible. The food served at the terrace bar is wonderful, reasonably priced, and of the highest quality. I really cannot stress how wonderful this hotel is. I am hoping to revisit this year for myself and my fiancee's honeymoon. Great place.
