| Almunecar Review: Almunecar | | Written by Jim Morrison 2 on 26 Feb 2006 about a trip in Sep 2005. Trip was for a group of friends on holiday. Jim Morrison 2 would definitely visit again.
| Almunecar is an excellent Spanish resort. The majority of the holiday makers are Spanish nationals or French although there are British visitors. If you are looking for all night discos then I would not suggest this resort. However if you are looking for Spanish holiday experience then you will find it in the Costa Tropical area and expecially in Almunecar. The locals are extremely friendly with few English speakers but don't let that put you off because they all understand 'pointish'. This involves the simple act of pointing to what you want and asking how much it costs.
One of the joys of this area is that they still believe in tradition of tapas. So every time you order a drink you are treated to a free dish of tapas. This can be anything from paella to sardines with coucous to meatballs. If you sit in the same cafe/bar for any length of time you will probably try their full menu.
Almunecar is easy to get to with cheap flights to Granada with Monarch Scheduled. You will need a car as it an hours drive from Granada Airport. But what a drive. You cut your way through the Sierra Nevada mountains on wonderful new roads.
Alternatively you can travel to Malaga and then travel towards Nerja again on good roads. This journey will taken just over a hour.
Almunecar is well worth visiting so go on give it a go. |
