The Alpinus is on the very edge of Albufeira and the biggest problem is the lack of taxi's. There is no taxi rank either outside or nearby and when you ask at Reception they tell you that taxi drivers are not keen to come out as far as the Alpinus but they can get you a 'transfer' - this is a minibus for which you pay the hotel direct and which costs more than a taxi. As the hotel is so far out you do not have much choice - on saying that getting a taxi back to the Alpinus was neven a problem. If staying at this hotel I would strongly advise you to hire a car.
The complex itself is clean and the apartments are large and spacious. The showers are not very good, when having a shower the water temperature varies constantly which could be dangerous. The apartments were well equiped but did not have a toaster or a microwave and although they advertise 'satellite' tv the channels are very limited and weather dependant!!!
The entertainment at the hotel was good with a large variety in the acts. The pool is very small for the number of apartmenbts in the complex. The pool is also shallower at the edges than it is in the middle which could be dangerous for children.
All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Alpinus but if we did go back we would definetly hire a car.
