Altinkum shopping

9.0
Didim Shopping Centre is probably the best place to go. It's on the corner of the main road down by the beach. You can get most things here such as clothes, shoes, jewellery and handbags. There is also a place upstairs that does henna tattoos at a really good price. The Saturday market is also brilliant if you can put up with being hassled by the stallholders. To be honest though, after a few days in Turkey you get used to this as it happens everywhere. Lots of bargains to be had at the market and never accept the first price they give you!

Altinkum nightlife

10.0
We tended to go to the Big Nose Bar in the evening which we thought was fantastic. The bar is run by Eric and his English wife. The do all sorts such as karaoke, quizzes and bingo. Might sound a bit cheesy but its not at all. They play all the latest music as well as older songs that everyone knows the words to. The best bit has to be the dancers though. All the waiters in the bar double up as dancers and they put on choregraphed shows throughout the night. Tops off as well most of the time may I add! They will try and drag u up to dance with them though so be prepared! Really fantastic bunch of people though! Other than that, along the beach fron you have clubs like Galaxy and Flamingo but I never visited any of these myself.

Altinkum restaurants

10.0
There are so many restaurants to choose from in Altinkum. We used to go to Nicks Place in the mornings for our breakfast and their food was really nice and really cheap. The staff there were also fantastic and would quite often come and sit with us whilst we were there. Romeos down the beach front was also really nice and we had dinner there quite a few times. Again, very well priced. Ikbals on the beach front was good food but slightly more expensive.

Altinkum attractions

5.0
The Temple of Apollo is quite an interesting place to visit. A lot of history behind it and fascinating to look around. It only costs 2 lira to get in so worth a visit anyway. The area is quite small though so this isn't a trip that will take up a whole day. We went there on a trip after the Saturday market and looked around in about an hour. There is also a water park nearby but we didnt visit this.

Altinkum day trips

We booked 2 day trips during our week stay. One was a Turkish bath which lasted about 3 hours and was absolutely lovely. Thehy recommend you get it done at the beginning of your holiday as it prepares your skin for an even tan etc. Its a bit strange if you've never had it done before but good none the less. The other trip was the Saturday market followed by a visit to the Temple of Apollo. We only had about an hr and a half at the market which wasnt long enough but other than that it was good. Left at 9am, back by 1pm.

Getting to Altinkum

10.0
We flew straight from London Luton airport into Bodrum which was very straightforward. We then had a 90 minute transfer from the airport to our hotel. All very easy.

Getting around Altinkum

The easiest way to get around is probably by taxi. The reason being that buses are always packed and the taxis are really cheap. They're not metered though so make sure you agree a price with the driver before you set off.

When to visit Altinkum

We went at the beginning of July which was really nice. If you're not travelling with children then this is probably the best time to go as you will not be surrounded by then like you would be in the summer holidays. The weather is also fantastic and was always around the 38 degree mark the whole week.
