Andalucia Princess: Good Hotel just a bit isolated by abc |
| Posted 18 January 2005 about a visit in November 2003 | Overall rating: 8.0 |
The Andalucia Princess is a bit difficult to review. The hotel which on approach looks nothing special is really an excellent hotel worthy of its five stars. The public areas, reception, dining room, and bars are spacious and attractive. The rooms are of a high standard the bathroom even has separate proper walk in shower with a glass door. The staff were efficient and polite and the food was of a good standard and varied . The pool and gardens were also well kept and attractive. We were there for Christmas 2003 and the weather was very pleasant, we sunbathed quite a lot between 11 and 3pm when it was warm. We booked it as a allocation on arrival, Thomson gold or platinum guaranteed, that meant we were either at this hotel or the Yaramar in Fuengirola ( a highly rated hotel). I think it was a con to fill the Andalucia Princess as many of the people there had booked on the same basis and nobody appeared to have been allocated the Yaramar. That said we really enjoyed the hotel which is nice and quiet. There is a lot of building work in the vicinity but it didn't impact on us in the slightest. The one main gripe of most people staying there was its location. There is no getting away from the fact it is very isolated with nowhere you can go for a stroll at night, no shops nearby and unless you take the bus into Marbella or Estepona nowhere for any evening entertainment. There are two bars within a 10 minute walk of the hotel, one along the beach and the other (Paco's) across the Motorway by the footpath. When we were there a Restaurant had just opened in the new development next door and with quite a few developments in progress in the area I am sure in a few years there will be plenty of places to eat and drink. One other point worth noting is although this hotel was nice and quiet while we were there this may be down to the fact that the sister hotel (Costa Del Sol Princess) which adjoins this hotel closes for the winter.
If you want a quiet break and you are happy to spend the evenings in the hotel ( there is entertainment in the lounge every night, typical hotel cabaret style and not for me) this is an excellent hotel which I can highly recommend. If you like to eat in your hotel then spend the evening strolling round shops, cafes and bars this is not the one for you, I would expect anyone with children or anyone who enjoyed clubbing would be very disappointed with this hotel.
