I arrived at 8.30 pm, I used a taxi, I asked for a Meter Taxi which I got, on route he asked me " Your first time to Rome ", If you are asked always so NO, apperently there is a standard fare to Rome which is on display on the back of the drivers seat, ( but its dark and i caunt see it ) the fare should be about 30 euros, the taxi driver keeped altering his sat nav while on route to Rome, the fare came to 75 euros ! !, luckily 4 me, i was meet by a Italian friend who saw the fare, - he went mad at the taxi driver, my friend gave him 30 euros in the end which was the right fare to pay, so be careful, The Taxi are right rip of people.
There are two a good bus service direct to rome from outside the arrivals costing 6 euros, Bus Shuttle is one of them, is one of them, they go to the main railway station in the centre of Rome the railway station is called " Termini " last bus is midnight, this is also where to get the bus back.
A lot of walking, so comfy shoes are a must, all hotels give a FREE MAP of the sites to see, and all are in walking distance of each other.
