We have just returned from a fabulous holiday to Cancun Staying at the Aqua Marina Beach Hotel.
The hotel is right on the lovely white sandy beach and very safe for swimming and snorkling. The hotel rooms and all the general areas are spotless.
I was a bit disappointed with the room when we first arrived as it seemed a bit basic. There were no drawers in the room to put your clothes in, only a wardrobe with some long hanging and shelves at one side. (tip: they do not provide hair dryers in the room, but you can hire one for $30, which is expensive). The room was spotless and it was cleaned every day and new bedding and towels were provided everyday. (tip: if you like a bath, there no are room with a bath at this hotel).
We found the air con in the room to be very noisy, it sounded like a plane landing in the room the first time we used it, but you got used to it after a few days.
The buffet restaurant was nice with plenty of choice everyday, they had theme evening some nights and put the tables outside by the pool and cooked outside which made a change. We preferred it in the a la carte restaurant by the swimming pool, the staff in there were so friendly and welcoming.
There were plenty of activities going on thoughout the day, but it was still quiet enough if you just wanted to relax and do nothing. It was lovely to go and sit in one of the two outdoor jacuzzis sipping a cocktail after a hard day sunbathing on the beach.
There was some entertainment in the hotel most evenings, mayan show, kareoke etc, but the bus stop was right outside the hotel door and the buses went up town or down town every two mins, if you wanted more eveing entertainment.
