We booked 7 nights at the Hotel Arena in late August through Thomas Cooks website.
The hotel was listed as a four star and no other rating was shown.
When we arived it was immediateley obvoius that this was not a four star hotel.
The hotel is squeezed into a narrow residential road and we had to disembark from the coach into the road and and carry our cases into the hotel in the dark.
The reception is very small and shabby with doors off hinges and handles missing from cupboards.
The food was dreadful and left uncovered on the buffet. The restaurant was open at one end and in the late evening it was full of flies.
Our rooms were much smaller that they look in the photographs and they were very run down with holes in the plaster, dirty toilets, stained linen and light fittings full of dead insects. There is no soundproofing to speak of and we could quite clearly hear the people in surrounding rooms usinf the toilet etc. Our rooms were on a corridor which was open to the road on one side.
The bed heads were against the outside wall which meant that we had very little sleep as a lot of people had to use this corridor to get to there own rooms.
The pools were much smaller than they appear in the photographs and the overall impression of this area was very claustrophobic.
The rooms, the pools and the restaurant were all within a few feet of each other.
I do not know how far it was to the shops or the beach because we checked out the next morning with little or no help from the Thomas Cook rep.
