| Really lovely resort if you stay around the beachfront. Heavily German orientated but this contributes to the calming, relaxed atmosphere of the resort.
Some perfectly good restaurants & plenty of places to have a drink outside & watch the striking sunsets.
The beach is the best place to be in the day, even if you are more of a pool person. Snack stations dotted around the bay every couple of hundred yards to keep you hydrated & happy.
The thing to do seems to be to hire double, quadruple peddle buggy things & ride along the front. From experience, keep it for the evening. It was far too hot in the day to be exerting yourself!
There is a livelier side to Arenal which we didn't see, except in passing by taxi. Parallel to the beach road seems to be many hanger-size drinking holes for the German population to let their hair down. If you want to avoid the noise that these places pump out, best to stay in a hotel further to the left of the bay.
A good water park not far away. Make sure you look at the map as we nearly missed some of the best slides. |
