this was a good clean hotel, with very friendly staff, always willing to help, internet access was cheap, breakfast was not that good, used to a good choice as in Novatels.
the district was very friendly, multi-ethnic, I speak french and is no problem except in central Paris, where they pick up that you are english, but in this district they were like the rest of the french, very friendly
me and my son had a great holiday, convenient for central Paris, the number of times we passed through "nation" metro station!! also good for getting to disney.
good local shops, they like to speak english, so weird conversations if you speak french, they speak english and you speak french, both trying to improve their second language
near to where there were troubles last autumn, but when we were there did not feel a dangerous area, some of the people there have been forgotten by the government, but the immigrants are such a friendly lot, not after your money, or trying to mug people, they are frustrated that the french let them in an now treat them as 2nd class citizens
stay in this area, some very friendly bars and restaurants, and cheap as well, the food is like home cooking, and they were so helpful as I am vegeterian, my son is not and they produced meals not on the menu.
The armstrong hotel is british owned and most the staff are from east europe, it was a good base for exploring Paris and going to disney, am going to use it in a few weeks as I will be there on business as the hotel & the area is so friendly,
rooms are clean, but basic, but all you need is there.
