This hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing. 2 seconds round the corner from the Gran Via. It is a couple of changes on the metro from the airport, so travel light, as the metro stations are very short on escalators! The doormen were welcoming and the cleaners friendly enough- but the waiting staff and reception staff are a bit surly. However, after a few days in Madrid, all service staff seemed to be the same (maybe just the Spanish in general!). Can't fault the hotel. Common areas were kept clean and the rooms were cleaned daily with fresh bed linen, towels and toiletries supplied. Not a great view from the back facing rooms, but there again, there is so much to see in the city that you may not spend too much time in the room. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby and within easy walking distance to Puerto de Sol and Plaza Mayor. It is really a good quality 3 star hotel- although it has 4 stars for some reason? If the breakfast is not included- don't buy it, it is too expensive. Have a coffee and a pastry in one of the many local cafes. If the breakfast is included, it is not bad, with a selection of both hot and cold dishes daily with assorted pastries and fresh fruit. If I ever went back to Madrid again (feel like I've seen it all, so probably not) I would stay here again without a doubt. Clean, comfortable and safe and good value for money if you don't pay too much.
