This is from the back of the hotel, the pool was pretty at night

This is George, Gary & Lambros

We loved Arsioe: Read below

From our 1st night at the Arsinoe, we all knew that we would enjoy our stay, the bar staff come over to us especially to welcome us and the receptionist was so friendly we instantly felt comfortable.

We room was lovely, it had lights set into the head board and a radio as well. The bathroom was newly tiled and the shower was new. The towels were clean and they had the arsinoe beach hotel embossed onto them. The beds were clean and the covers matched the curtains. We had sea view, but this also means main road view. It didn’t bother us but I know some people would be put off to see cars driving past all the time.

There were 2 pools. One basic and the other nice. We don’t use the pool though, we go to the beach most days. We cross the road straight in front of the hotel at the traffic lights then turn right when you are on the sand. Keep going until you go past the private part of the beach where the hotel is and look out for the beach hut. Not the first one (yellow umberella’s) but the 2nd one painted with palm trees on it (white umberella’s). This is Chris. He will charge you 1cp per bed and 1 for the umberella. He is Cypriot/Austrailian and a very nice bloke. You get a bowl to wash the sand off your feet and you are able to use any of his facilities: bat and ball, lilos, rubber rings, magazines etc, and he is very friendly.

Back to the hotel: The breakfast was perfect for me, I am not fussy at all. I would start some mornings with cereal, then toast and eat it with cold ham and cheese, then I would have sausage, beans, egg, potato (hash brown style), scrambled egg, tomato etc and would maybe finish with yogurt and fruit or yogurt and nuts and cereal. My bfriend and brother however do not like all that continental stuff so they got bored of the sausage, bacon and beans after a week. I say make the most of it, because you don’t get it at home! If you want a bacon bun, there is different choices of breads and rolls.

We only ate lunch twice, it was similar to the evening meal but on a smaller scale. You can swap your evening meal for lunch If you plan to eat out. Very flexible!

The evening meal was lovely. Nice soup to start. I had read on previous reviews that the food was terrible but had to agree. They did repeat it quite a lot, but it was all meats and fish I enjoyed. Mostly did Pork and lamb (must be cheaper out there)? Then they did Beef (braised very nice) or beef carvery and they did Gammon joint and Chicken. They did lovely potatoes and veg but some nights only did one veg dish, like carrots or peas, and I personally like lots of veg.

There was plenty of salad and cold sweetcorn and coleslaw and potato salads and cold meats etc.

The sweets didn’t interest me as I don’t enjoy deserts, but they looked nice, but went very quickly.

I must mention how lovely George, Yannis, Lambros, Tony & Gary were the bar staff, all of them were nice but I got talking to them the most when we were there. George is not a grumpy person like someone said previously but I think that some nights he is on a high and other nights he cant be bothered as much, however he was always very friendly and chatty.

Yannis was always on a natural high like someone previously said, but he was never in your face and OTT. I loved his dancing. Drinks are nice there. Try the Tequila sunrise, I don’t like tequila however this was my favourite at the hotel. And the one with the baileys, tia maria and ameretto was nice too.

The safe is 5cp per week and we hired a fridge for 10cp per week, they are normal size fridges like the ones we have at home so you could fill it with beer or water if you prefer?

We liked the way the security man went round the hotel every night checking the rooms were locked, and if they weren’t (3 rooms, party of 6 people going in between each other- they usually were un locked) he would tell us please keep them locked to prevent crime. He said there wasn’t crime but he wasn’t to ensure it didn’t happen.

The air con wasn’t very strong in our room so we were still sometimes not cool enough of a night but me mom & dad’s room and brothers room was chilly, it was lovely and they WERENT noisy like previously mentioned.

We went to a few day trips.
Camels in Mazotos, very nice there, friendly people and worth going for the ride if you haven’t done it before.
Troudos mountains, takes a while to get up there cuz we got lost but if you find the water falls, they are pretty. Some of them aren’t worth seeing but the Green Water Falls are nice. You have to pay 2cp each to go down the steps to it.

We went to larnaca beach, aiya napa and nissi bay beach, all very nice with white sand, but limassol beach was lovely too. Yes the sand was dark, but not dirty at all. The water was very clean and clear and it is nice to swim in cuz it doesn’t get very wavy, so anyone can go in it.

I must say I don’t recommend young lads to go (my brother 18 and so is his friend) as I found that the Cypriot men of similar ages didn’t like them and found them a threat of some sort. Our rep explained that the squaddies out there always cause trouble and because my brother was smartly dressed and muscle with a short hair cut they may have thought he was too. They caused hassle for me, my boyfriend, brother and friend in tow bars.

Also you young men watch out for the taxi drivers that want to take you to the strip clubs stay away – the strip clubs are trouble and are run by the Russian Mafia. Please avoid these places.

The bars to go to in the tourist area are the Step inn Irish bar, the triangle and basement. Good nightlife by hotel too, but it is more relaxed bars with music and karaoke. The Rosy O Grady’s nightclub under the hotel is very expensive as it is Cypriot and the Cypriots don’t drink much so that’s why the prices are high. Bit boring down there.

Got Married at the Arsinoe hotel in 2000 hotel is great cheap alcohol (if you get friendly with the bar staff) food not to good in hotel restaurant but outdoor buffets and cyprus nights are magic.
Location is fantasic it is just across the road from a nice beach which is not too busy but with unobstrusive watersports for the more active.
Short taxi ride will take you to The lively Galatex where all the clubs and touristy bars are be warned clubs do not liven up till 2am so pace yourself as drinks are very strong and cheap.
