Aventura Spa Palace: Luxury in abundance! by Johnny Mags |
| Posted 21 April 2005 about a visit in October 2001 | Overall rating: 9.8 |
Went to Aventura Palace on honeymoon, and first trip to Mexico. What a hotel! The sister Spa hotel, which just opened into our 2nd week, is a short walk or quick golf buggy ride away (the porters hate to see you having to walk and will bundle you into their cart at every opportunity),
Food-
There's an unbelievable range of restaurants split between the 2 hotels, and we couldn't even get round them all in 2 weeks!...
La Hacienda for great quality modern Mexican dishes in beautifal surroundings, while on occasion being serenaded by the Mariachis (keep your head down though and they get the message), a bit more formal a dining experience.
La Mundaca for superb buffet breakfast, lunch & dinner, or you can have waiter service if preferred. They have everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! Seafood from giant prawns to huge Salmon, T-bone steaks cooked exactly how you want them, every type of salad and side dish you can imagine, fresh pancakes at breakfast- you have to force yourself away from this place to at least give the other restaurants a go.
Mo Mo No Hana (Spa) Japanese/Chinese restaurant for fresh Sushi which is great. Loads of other oriental dishes and great decor. Went here with a banging Margarita hangover but the food brought me around a bit.
The Vegetarian (Spa) place hadn't opened yet, but it looked pretty fancy.
There are snack bars all over the place churning out hot dogs, chicken wings, tortilla chips and mexican dips, sandwiches etc., all great quality
Drink-
Oh my god. Going all-inclusive? Well bring a suitcase full of headache tablets. With the pool bar in full swing all day, making at least 100 cocktails an hour (go for the Banana Monkey) and waiter service to your deck chair, PACE YOURSELF. I learnt to do this by the 10th day.
The El Portico bar (Aventura) is a great place to meet up with people in the evening, was always buzzing and usually had live music on. They have every type of premium brand spirit, but you frequently have to request it which was never a problem.
I think my wife and I were the first people to grace the lobby bar in the Spa when it opened, so I can't vouch for the atmosphere there but the place looked high-class.
Facilities-
Pools are huge, well laid out. There's no beach but who needs one when you've got a lagoon. Go for treatments in the Spa, I can recommend the head and neck massage. They know what they are doing and the place oozes quality.
Rooms-
Best I've ever stayed in. The double jacuzzi combined with a sea view was a treat. Just don't turn the jets on until they are submerged by at least 5 inches of water- my wife nearly blew our patio doors off! The shower was huge, with a tiled seating area if you can't be bothered standing.
All in all, a dream holiday. I think prices have shot up a fair bit since 2001, but that hasn't stopped us dreaming about going back. GO THERE!

Nothing bad can be said about this resort.
OK so there is no beach, but the lagoon is gorgeous and the pools are MASSIVE !!
Food is terrific and the kitchen tours are a great insight.
Plenty of choice in lots of restaurants.
The rooms are superb with maid service second to none. Don't forget the double jacuzzi in every room and the hammock on the balcony/patio !!
The Spa is heavenly especially the massages and hydrotherapy treatments.
Go, relax and forget all your worries !!!
