Add photo | We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at this "Thomson Gold"hotel, which we booked through Portland Direct.
The hotel is in a good situation directly facing Sandy Bay, about 2kms from Agia Napa harbour. (Lots of Taxis and local buses).
This hotel is very well managed with excellent facilities including a free form swimming pool with adequate sunbeds and parasols. (This still doesn't stop some guests from getting up early and reserving them).
The restaurant is first class with a good choice of well presented , delicious food. It is difficult to fault any aspect of the hotel service, all of the staff were helpfull and obviously well trained in thier jobs.
The rooms are very well kept with good facilities including very good air conditioning. We booked a superior room which has a large balcony with sunbeds, fridge and bathrobes. Good value for money.
The entertainment was better than we had expected with some very good acts after 10pm most nights.
There are lots of local bars nearby with "Stars"we thought had long since gone! Elvis, Dean Martin, Matt Monroe and Sammy Davis Jnr all live-on in Nissi Avenue! Good fun though with some wonderful cocktails available to keep you going until the early hours.
We took the One Day Air excursion to Cairo. This was certainly different! A busy day visiting most of the main sights Including the Pyramids, Nile cruise and The Egyptian museum. A very long day though as the flight is from Pafos.
Agia Napa centre is well worth a visit after about 11pm! We may be getting on a bit (59 and 62) but the atmosphere is brilliant and the drinks very cheap.
The one drawback is Larnaka airport. This place is a disaster, not helped by Britannia Airways checking in all flights together. Pasengers for flights 1 1/2 hours after ours were checking in before us, as a consequence of that we were sitting on the aircraft whilst some other passengers were still checking in.
They blame computer difficulties but this has gone on for TWO years!
Arrival was no better, it took over an hour to retrieve our luggage. (Funchal Airport in Madeira takes no more than 15 mins!)
Overall though a very good holiday in a a fine hotel. we will return. |
