Azia Beach: Azia Beach Hotel - August 2005 by Dave Comley |
| Posted 09 September 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
After reading mixed reviews on this hotel, we arrived with a little trepidation. However, after 10 days at this hotel I have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Azia Beach.
Reception was helpful and the rooms were fine. Having teenage children with us we took one of the Premium Club Rooms with adjoining door to the kids room which was great - enough control to keep an eye on them but enough privacy when we needed it.
The pool was great and the kids loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful. We went at the beginning of August and it wasn't too busy - just about right. The hotel is a short bus ride into either Paphos (town or harbour) or the same distance the other way, Coral Beach. The journey was 70cents a time so not too expensive. The taxi journey is around 5 pounds. We enjoy pool bathing and relaxing so the fact that the hotel beach was very small and not particularly attractive didn't bother us. For beach lovers the beach at Coral Bay is great. The pool bar was well stocked and very efficient, with waiter service throughout the day around the pool. Drinks at the hotel are expensive as is the evening meal, it is much, much cheaper to eat out of the hotel. Try the restaurant at the end of the small parade outside the hotel - (something like 'Serine') it is excellent.
The weather was very hot, as one would expect, and we took advantage of a small tip we had heard of placing a plastic card (not the room key which obviously you take out with you) into the air-con control which kept it on whilst you were out and ensured that the room was refreshingly cool when you got back.
Paphos itself is a bustling town as is the harbour, a small distance away. Again, plenty of places to eat and drink and some nice sea-food restaurants in the harbour itself.
Finally, my only tip in all of this is to make sure that you keep an eye on your bar and hotel tab through the holiday. It is so easy to order drinks etc when you are roasting during the day and it can be difficult to keep track of what you are spending! We paid ours up every couple of days so that there were no shocks at the end!
Our only minor gripe was that there were no tea making facilities in the rooms, meaning that you had to buy tea from room service. A small point.
In all, we would love to return to Azia and would recomend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, sun-seeking holiday in Paphos.

Azia Beach: wedding couple azia beach, paphos, cypurs by Claire Conlon |
| Posted 13 May 2005 about a visit in March 2005 | Overall rating: 4.8 |
We stayed here as we were getting married in Paphos. I nearly cried the first night we arrived, as the room we got as a wedding couple left a lot to be desired. Majority of the staff were unfriendly . The best were the bar staff who seemed over-worked but well able to remember your usual drink.
The hotel was still abuilding site when we arrived & when we left. Not a single manager appeared on our wedding day to offer congratulations- something I would expect working in a 4 star hotel myself. I cannot see how they received the 5 stars as the leisure facilites were still not finished.
They cared more about the german & austrian groups (eating the whole hotel out of the buffet food each night & morning) than the wedding couples. We met another couple who experienced the same problems we did.
As a hotel for a holiday it would suffice, but for wedding couples please do not expect the full service from them at all.
Nice surroundings if you like to call the cliff & man made beach with no access unless you jump over the rubbish, mud, clay etc a beach.
They need to improve on serveral areas in this hotel, I would not recommend this.
Stayed 17/04/05 to 01/05/05.
