Barcelo Club el Castillo: Great time in a great resort by Dave Wilson |
| Posted 08 January 2008 about a visit in November 2007 | Overall rating: 9.6 |
Visited Barcelo Club in late Novemebr early Decemeber 2007. Had been before so knew (more or less) what to expect. Check was swift and easy. Room was easy to find. Had asked for a sea/pool view and were delighted to find ourselves ina room overlooking the beach not far from teh resort centre. We arrived at 6ish in the evening so, after unpacking and buying essentials (beer coffee milk etc) had a drink then went for evening meal.
As last time food was good. On 2nd day decied to upgrade from half board to all inclusive - only drawback was that at lunch time you couldn't get a snack at the snack bar - but you could have lunch in the restuarant. Upgrading was very worthwhile.
Location of Barcelo is good witha pleasant walk into the centre of calleta - not a huge place any way but a relaxing walk. The resort is not for thos who want loud music but is ideal for anyone who wants to get away to a pleasant environment with virtually no hustle and bustle.
Overall woudl rfecommend to anyone who weants a quiet holiday in a good resort.

Barcelo Club el Castillo: Christmas/New Year by David Atherton |
| Posted 06 July 2002 | Overall rating: 9.0 |
We visited for 2 weeks (2 adults, 1 child(8)) and thought that this complex was excellent. At that time of year the weather is a bit hit and miss, some sunshine and cloud and a bit of rain.
Also a massive thunderstorm on New Years Eve.
Food was great, especially New Year gala dinner, when we had lobster and fillet steak.
Entertainment was not so good because the stage area is outside and it was too cold at this time of the year to sit outside. We mostly wandered into the small resort and had a few drinks. The Music bar was great, family entertainment every night, but apart from that, not a lot of choice. Plenty of good restaurants around the resort, especially Chinese, we counted 8.
The beach is OK, but the resort is would be quiet even in the hight of summer, so don't go there unless you just want a relaxing time. Towards the back of the resort there are lots of apartment complexes, on what becomes a fairly steep hill. Check where your accomodation is located before booking, as I reckon you would get sick of hiking up that hill after a few days.
About the aparthotel, staff were excellent, rooms were basic but adequate. We had some ants, but I think everyone else did to. Pool areas were very clean, and nicely laid out, but the water was freezing. The complex is a few years old and some parts of it looked a bit tired. but I've seen a lot worse.
Overall a pretty good choice.
