We have just returned after spending two weeks at the Barcelo Las Margaritas.Our ages ranged from sixty five down to age nine .There were eight of us counting grandparents Parents and grandchildren. The party included three teenagers to give you an idea of the different requirements of an enjoyable holiday.All of us had a wonderful time at the Hotel and I would recomend this Hotel highly.I will summarise below
rooms
The rooms were the best I have ever stayed in being large airy very well equipped and comfortable. All have air conditioningThe floors are carpeted with a television and fridge included.There are very big mirrored wardrobes and safety deposit boxes for hire.Leading out onto a large balcony over looking one of two pools.The balconies are furnished too.
Reception
This area is very smart and the decor is of a very high standard with the most obliging staff I have ever come across on the reception desk.We found nothing was too much trouble for them and their manner was welcoming and professional.Ther are lovely soft settes and chairs in the air conditioned lobby.
Pool Area
A very well kept family pool with sunbeds brollies and chairs which you cannot reserve before 10 am or your towels are removed.By the side of the pool is a bar serving food and drinks all day.You can take the all inclusive option after you arrive if you feel it would be cheaper for you.
entertainment
There is plenty of entertainment provided by the resident animacion team who did a wonderful job of keeping the children and adults entertained and happy with different games and activities throughout the day and in the evening. They were wonderful friendly people who let you do as much or as little as you wished and I loved the way they had the older holiday makers competing alongside the young ones at killer darts and pool etc.There is a night club and disco every night in the hotel this was still going at 1-30 am but I can honestly say we never disturbed by any noise as all the cooridors and rooms are carpeted and the windows are soundproofed.
Ameneties
You can stay in self catering apartments if you wish. They are situated in the grounds and over by these apartments you find there are mini golf football shooting tennis and another pool and bar all within lovely kept gardens.There is also a fully equipped gym if you are feeling energetic.
Food
Although we could always find some thing we liked I would not say that the food was the best I have had.There were so many different nationalities staying there the catering was very diverse although they did try and please everyone and there was a good variety and choice.You could even have a champagne breakfast each morning and also dine outside overlooking the pool .
Round And About
The Hotel is positioned in a quieter part of Playa Del Ingles and is about 1.5 km from the beach.The hotel provides you with a free bus pass when you can catch a bus just outside the Hotel .These buses run very frequently to and from the beach front and the last one was about 5,30 pm.If you want to go down to the promenade at night and sample the bars and restaurants the taxis are very cheap and pick you up at the hotel in a matter of minutes .The prices seem to be about 2 to 3 euros anywhere around the resort.There arn"t many bars situated in the vicinity but we found that most of the entertainment outside the Hotel is in commercial centers. Personally we found the Chapparel center which is within walking distance to be the best family place to go in the evening.Also another bar not far away is Harries bar for cheap drinks and food.
To Sum up I would recommend this hotel but if you want a hotel in the thick of all the action and in the middle of town then it"s not for you although as I said there is plenty going on and transport is either free or cheap.

Food was excellent & plentyfull, rooms were comfortable , a small fridge is provided which is a nice touch. The beds were a little on the hard side for our taste, but this was our only quibble. The service was excellent, it was clean & the staff were very helpfull. The entertainment is outside by the pool so if you want an early night you have to wait untill 11.00pm untill it finishes. We recommend Harrys Bar just round the corner for cheap drink & for booking a jeep safari (with water fights) for 25 euros each as at May 2003. Overall we were very impressed & would go back again.
