Barut Hotel Hemera: Hotel Hemera by Michele Hoy |
| Posted 10 July 2005 about a visit in September 2001 | Overall rating: 9.5 |
This was our first visit to Turkey.
We booked the Hemera with some friends and our party consisted on 15 people.
When we arrived in the middle of the night, the first room we were allocated smelt of fish, and we thought the air conditioning was acting up.
This was reported to reception who quickly sent maintenance to sort out the problem. It couldnt be resolved so we were allocated a lovely room in the main tall building with fantastic views.
We later discovered we were near the fish restaurant hence the smell.
The Hemera is a large hotel, it has views all around of either the gardens or the sea or both.
The aminmation team keep the children happy day and night and really do a good job and earn their money.
The pool is lovely and quite large, it is situation in what are the most exceptionally green gardens I have ever seen on my trips abroad.
The pool bar is lovely, we spend many a lunchtime there with a capuchino and brandy, and continued on to early evening.
Food is available most of the day, and there was always a good variety with choices for the children.
The waiters are brilliant, but remember they dont earn a lot so a small tip does help.
Entertainment in the evening wasnt the best I have seen, but the childrens cabaret was lovely.
The hotel puts on a beach party every week, complete with a bonfire, limbo dancing etc. An excellent night.
It was my birthday whilst we were there and the hotel provided a huge chocolate cake, and flowers at our table in the evening.
The walk into side on the beach is lovely, and Side itself is pretty although it was starting to get a bit touristy for me.
Watch out for the touts trying to get you in their shops.
The guys in our group did white water rafting for the day, highly recommend it and had an excellent time.
The girls did what we do best and went shopping to Antalya on an organised trip. Thoroughly enoyed it although it was quite busy.
One word sums this place up 'fantastic'
Highly recommend this hotel.
