I have just spent a week at the Belvedere with my husband and 2 teenage children. Excellent location, very hard working staff, rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed, our toilet stopped flushing and was repaired within hours of reporting the fault. The pool was clean but due to the kidney shape of it was no good for swimming, but my teenage kids enjoyed playing in it. The indoor jacuzzi was great to cool down in when it got a bit too warm outside. The room was compact but there were shelves for the cases, so adequate, and the balcony had a drying rack (very useful), 2 chairs and a table. Air con was useful at night. There was a wide variety of food and if you queued you could have food made to order e.g pancakes, grilled chicken, omlettes, steak etc. Ideal for the kids and we looked forward to the meals. We were half board but that was sufficient as there was a snack bar by the pool serving chips, hot dogs, toasties etc. and one day we swopped an evening meal for lunch as we were going to Porta Ventura for the evening session 7pm -12pm. This was only a 10 min walk and would definitely recommend it. We felt very safe walking back to the hotel late at night. Evening entertainment was mediocre. We travelled to Barcelona, 90mins by train 11 euros, Salou is a lovely resort, lots of shops, cafes, bars beautiful promenade, (recommend the evening fountain/light show) sea was warm, beach great. We were very pleased with our holiday and fly to local airport Reus if you can, 5.60 euros by coach to hotel. Enjoy, we did!!!!

Belvedere: Well worth a stay at this hotel by adamsrad@talktalk.net

A beautiful walkway along side of main road

A view of the beach for sun lovers

We have just had a very enjoyable week in the Belvedere. It's facilities are wide ranging, the pool is a very good size with a kids section, there are also plenty of sun lounge's. The food is of a good standard with a large variety to suit all, the restaraunt is large and we did'nt have to queue. The entertainment is varied and should suit most people. The staff are very helpful and nothing is to much for them. In the surrounding area you don't have to go far to find a good selection of bars and reataraunts. The beach is of blue flag standard and stretches for 7 kilometers to Cambrils (well worth a visit). If you want to travel there is a railway station with service or if you want to travel by bus they are very regular and you don't have to wait long. We will be going back to the Belvedere and would certainly recommend it. If you stay there I look forward to your comments.

Belvedere: Enjoyable Holiday at the Belvedere. by Susan Carr

I have just returned from spending a week in this hotel (21st-28th) with my husband, 3 children, my mum and mum-in-law. The hotel is very clean, maids come every day to clean and turn down the beds. Towels and sheets get changed regularly. Air-conditioning is available in the rooms, but it's only activated when the main door and patio doors are shut. There is a safe deposit box in the room which is available to hire for 15 euros a week plus 5 euros refundable deposit.
The meals were absolutely delicious. They were buffet style with chefs on hand to cook fresh things such as fried eggs, omelettes, burgers, fish, various meats. The variety was enormous and it was cooked very nicely. We've all put on a bit of weight while we were there! If you had a bottle of wine with your meal, you were able to save it until the next night so it wasn't wasted.
The pool was clean and a bit cold when you first get in. The childrens section was quite shallow so idea for small ones. There was also a seat which enables wheel chair users to get into the pool.
Evening entertainment was a bit of a let down. there was nothing on until 10 at night and then it wasn't exactly great. I do recomend the Tahiti show though, that is fantastic.
There are quite a few different nationalities staying at this hotel. While we were there, there was Spanish, French, German, Canadian and British and they were just the ones I know of!!
The hotel staff are very nice and helpful and most spoke at least some English. The bar staff are fantastic, very friendly.
The hotel is quite accessible for wheelchairs and in fact there were a couple of people in wheelchairs whilst we were there and they seemed to get around ok. There are ramps and lifts to everywhere in the hotel.
If you have small blonde children, be prepared for people ruffling their hair and patting them on the head as you pass. My youngest 2 were a bit freaked the first couple of times it happened, but they soon got used to it.
The hotel is situated about 10 minute walk from the beach front and perhaps 10/15 minutes walk from Port Aventura and Costa Caribe. There are a lot of British pubs in the area and a British supermarket close by as well. I recomend Port Aventura to everybody. We went in the evening after 7 as it was cheaper. There weren't any queues for the rides and the light show at midnight is fantastic.
While we were in spain we also visited Aquopolis, a waterpark that also has dolphin and sea lion shows. The shows are amazing to watch and are worth the short bus ride from Salou.
The only thing you might need to be aware of is there are some proffesional thieves about in Salou. We had a camcorder stolen from under a load of stuff under the buggy which was never out of our sight. The rep told us that a family had a bag stolen from under their table at MacDonalds while they were all sitting there. Just be aware for these people.

Other than that, we all had a great time at this hotel and would definately recomend it to anybody.

Stayed here 4th july-18th july 04.Not sure what times the kids club was on.It's based in a wooden wendy house type thing where they did drawing etc. It's run by the hotel. The pool has steps into it but they have a chair which you sit in and then it is lowered into the pool, didn't see it in use when we were there.
The hotel itself was great, we found the food to be great plenty of choice and variety. It's within walking distance to the theme park,we overlooked the street and were able to see the fireworks at midnight from our room.It was air conditioned which was good. The pool was not that big considering the amount of rooms but we always managed to get a sunbed, they had entertainment on in the day as well as at night. It is a sister hotel to the Villa Romana which is across the road and to the left.Easy walking distance to the shops and beach.Would reccomend it to anyone and would definately go back.
Forgot to say there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room,I took my own kettle.

I went to this hotel in may and being in spain it means that spanish OAP`s get a cheap or free holiday from the goverment and it seemed that they liked this hotel the best they would flock around in big groups and it sounded like you were sitting in an avery as when they chatter they are high pitched like birds plus as they were spanish the whole hotel bowed to them the food the entertainment (karoke in spanish) plus they thought they could sit anywhere in front of you to blok your view or even in your seat if they liked it better than theirs plus early birds for breakfast ,the noise at 6.00 in the morning was a nightmare ,apart from that the hotel was fine ,you can find short cuts to town just pop down the side streets off the main rd.
