| Berlin Review: | | Written by Bucks Traveller on 27 Oct 2004 about a trip in May 2004.
| I think my abiding memory of Berlin is that no attempt is made to cover up its recent history. It is certainly a very moving experience to visit the city, whether you're watching the construction of the Jewish memorial, visiting a section of the Wall near Bernauer Strasse or seeing a street named after Jesse Owens next to the Olympic Stadium
Everyone we encountered was very friendly and they all spoke excellent English.
Transport is excellent (as you would expect in Germany). We bought a 3-day travel pass (about 22 euros each, I think) which gave us the freedom of transport in Berlin and Potsdam.
I regard Berlin as a good choice for a weekend break. |
