Best Western Phoenix: 1 night in a cupboard was enough by Elizabeth Orwin

6 of us were down in London for a conference. We all had booked single rooms and all of them were no better than cupboards. 1 of my colleagues did get a double which was actually fine for 1 person. They were clean and the beds were comfortable though as was the rest of the hotel especially the bar area.

The dining room was like returning to a school cafeteria. There was total confusion as to what procedures people should follow in getting their buffet breakfast. The atmosphere was rushed and chaotic. I would not like to be there on a relaxing holiday. The food at breakfast was basic and just adequate, coffee was awful. The staff were rushed off their feet and were quite brusque when we asked for some cutlery. We actually had to ask 3 different staff before we got any.

We were in the annex which was certainly not as nice as the main building, being rather faded and tired looking with tatty worn carpets.
We just missed out on a deal for £35 on the internet for that weekend which would have been a far more realistic price than the £60 we paid.

This hotel hits that sweet point between value for money and luxury

The location is perfect for me attending courses in central London {near the heathrow express } The actual hotel is next to the main street but far enough away for peace and quiet

Cleanliness was first rate , service was unobtrusive and friendly .

For me the excellent WiFi was a big plus as I could deal with business back home as if i was at my desk

Loved it
Ill be back
