My wife phoned the Adelphi, and were quoted £750 for 8 nights in the hotel, because it was a short notice they could not take payement over the phone and told us we'd have to pay at the hotel.

When we arrived, after struggling to find a parking space and queing up for a fair while (noticing that there was a big shiney sign advising residents to pay £10 for a safety deposit box), the girl at reception then went and found our booking and room, we decided to settle the bill there and then only to be told that it was going to cost £1,065.

We asked if there was some mistake as we had been quoted the other price and she told us, with out written confirmation, to take it or leave it! So we left and stayed with family overnight.

My advice to anyone is if you are planning to stay in liverpool forget the Adelphi and stay in a luxuary appartment. We called Serviced city pads.com gave them our budget and we had a lovely place the same day.

Britannia Adelphi: Hotel is overpriced, the service and rooms worst in uk by Nathan March

Location of hotel is great, shame nothing else is. £299 for a single room with no shower curtain or holder for shower. The hot water wasn't always hot and the taps made a banging noise when they were turned on. The sink plug didn't look clean. Horrible decor just to finish the experience.

Security of rooms was also a concern as doors did not seem secure.

Breakfast was generally nice, but over priced compared to local restraunts. As with the rest of the hotel staff struggled to smile.

Gym costs £5 to use and the equipment isn't maintained properly. The process of paying at the service desk was a real problem if you try to do it when others are checking in.

The marriot hotel is round the corner and probably cheaper and better in every sense. Travel lodge have nicer rooms.

Just don't go there!

This hotel is nothing like as advertised the only good thing with this hotel is the Full English Breakfast. It was by far one of the best breakfast's that I have had at any hotel in a long time. I booked a triple room for one night using Airmiles plus cash. The triple room that we were allocated was a room for the disabled, which I wouldn't have had a problem with if it had been cleaned properly. The toilet seat was dirty and the tiles on the floor looked like they had not been cleaned in ages. I had to lay the towels on the floor to walk on because it was so disgusting.

There wasn't any information in the room with regard to the television stations, checkout time or breakfast times that you would normally find in your hotel room. The reason for our trip to Liverpool was to go to a concert at Summer Pops 06 Big Top Arena and because as we arrived there quite late (5.30pm) I didn't complain to the hotel about the state of the room because there wasn't enough time. Had I been staying any longer than overnight I would have definately demanded a different and cleaner room.

They do have car parking facilites but they are around the back of the hotel. The cost is £5 for overnight parking but if you leave after 9.30am the next day you have to pay £10. I dont quite understand why it's 9.30am as the checkout time for the hotel is 11am and breakfast is served between 7-10am.

So all in all I will definately NOT be going back to this hotel EVER again even though the breakfast was great.

What rubish,we stayed as a couple on a short break, two nights, and can i say that was two nights too long.

breakfast is the highlight of the stay as it is served buffet style and the choice is varied. dinner when they eventually fetched it, was cold and followed ten minutes later by the vegetables served to you, so when we asked for the meals to be replaced by warm food got a sourly reply. i could understand if the restaurant was busy but there could be no more than 20 tables in use.

The hotel is in need of decoration and a clean wouldn't go a miss our room was basic and poky
