| Bruges Review: Bruges Day trip May 2005 + May 2003, Long weekend June 2001 | | Written by Monk-San on 04 May 2005 about a trip in Apr 2005.
| Bruges is a beautiful quaint town. You can get there and back from the south of England in a day, but its well worth a longer visit.
The town itself is not large, so it is easy to find your way around on foot. It is ringed with canals, and boat rides round it are very pleasant indeed.
One of the most enjoyable things to do in Bruges is to sit yourself down in one of the restaurants along the side of the main square and take in the fine view of the bell tower and enjoy a fabulous meal.
Belgians know about food - whether it's frites and mayo, waffles with cream, chocolate and strawberries or one of the many seafood dishes, you can't go wrong.
Pretty town, with some excellent restaurants. Mainly focussed around the central square. You can climb the clock tower for some splendid views or take a horse drawn carriage, complete with its own poo catcher. (For the horse, not you). It's easy to walk about and that's a good idea since all the beer, cream, waffles, chocolate and chips with mayo will have an unfortunate effect on your waistline. There are canal rides too. Marvellous. |
