I spent 3 nights at the Caballero just prior to my wedding as a single traveller in April 2004. I guess I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Palma airport ( I didnt want to spend too long or too much money in a taxi) and I wasn't ripped off with the single room supplement.
Located just up a side road from Playa de Palmas lovely long promenade, it is basically a German orientated hotel, but then Playa de Palma is a German orientated resort.
The Hotel is worthy of its 3 stars. The single room I was in, was rather small but perfectly adequate, with television, air con, nice bathroom and good size balcony.
I stayed half board, and even though I noticed a few other single people, I could almost feel eyes on me, as if to say 'Where is the partner?' The same unfortunately happened while I was taking a stroll out. If I stopped at a bar I was waiting ages to be served, as if the staff were waiting for hubby to turn up before they would come and take my order. It all got a little frustrating and I began to approach staff immediately rather than wilt away with thirst.
The meals in the hotel are German influenced, but perfectly acceptable to an adult who enjoys different cuisine.
Not particularly a hotel for children or families, and my guess is that it will remain a favourite for the German holidaymaker rather than the British. Its rather a pity really that this happens, but I feel it always will.
A very enjoyable stay. 3 nights on my own was enough, and the weather was nice enough to give me a golden glow for my wedding
