Cala Nova: Cala Nova Hotel is THE BEST by Conroy/Fielding/Walsh |

Hotel/Appartments
A very clean ethos throughout the establishment, maid service 5 days a week with towels changed twice weekly and bedding once weekly.Pillows are very soft so you may need to ask your rep/reception to send up some more. facilitys consist of 2 ring ceramic hob, kettle, toaster and fridge. all appartments overlook pool/ sea view.Rebecca the welsh appartment entertainer was brilliant and got everyone involved in games, killer pool and volley ball which are a daily activities, Rebecca was made for the job of entertainer and kept her smile and enthusiasm throughout "well done girl" your a born star.Victor the barman was also very good and very ammusing as he mimicked all the northern accents too a tee. The pool is a little on the small side but is split into 2 sections 1 for toddlers 12" high and the other goes down to 1.8 metres, so its okay too dive into. The pool area is very slippy and you should be very aware of this as there was several bruised kids about from slips, but none too serious.Sunbeads could be a nightmare on most days (up at 8.30 ) or miss out, sundays and mondays however was easy too get a sunbead due to the changeover of holiday makers. A relaxed attitude from the staff ensures you can eat/drink your own sandwiches at the pool"but dont throw it in there faces and ruin a good thing, It is worthy of note that the hotel food was fine also, should you wish to get things like pizzas/burgers/hotdogs and breakfasts.
There are a lot of steps in Puerto Rico but the location of this hotel is better than most, I counted 120 steps altogether but these were split up into 3 sets, so wasn't that bad if your reasonably fit, or you could get a taxi for 2.5 euros (£1.70).if you have had a few to many from the main commercial centre.
Food/places of interest.
We tried loads of restaraunts and as there was 10 of us we got to see and eat a lot of dishes between us, heres a few tips
Churchhills-
Steak or sheperds pie a delight and loads of it worthy of a couple of euros extra, however dont expect the pork to be of the same standard.
San Miguels-
Steaks or Lasagne great but no one got a bad meal here and the prices were great, only trouble was you could be waiting for a table for 20 mins or so.
Squires-
great breakfasts and Steack pie with Mushy peas(hard to find) a real cracker.
Oskars (near the Harbour)-
The best on the island but dig deep it can cost double the others.
Loads of cheep bars and often they were the best entertainment, so visit the centre and go too the top deck to the very end near the FUNNY Girls but definetly do not go into the funny girls as the beer is twice the price of other bars but you do get tranversites dresses to the nines giving a free show which was okay to see for a one off.
Amadoras beech is worth a 3 euro trip in a taxi and is far better than the local beech, the shops and bars are cheaper also around this area.
This is the second time I have been to these appartments and would recommend them thoroughly. a cracking holiday was had by all.
PS
No roaches found in the appartments with our partyof 3 rooms, as I said they are spotless.
have a good holiday
