| Calella Review: Calella. A veterans viewpoint | | Written by Keith Beswick on 18 Nov 2003
| Ok I love this resort I admit it and heres some advice for the first timer.
1. Book in at The Concorde Apartments. The rates are charged by the day(min. stay a week) per apartment. 3 of us stayed there last year for 2 weeks in june in a 2 bedroom apartment for less than 130 quid each which is great value. Unless you have kids avoid the Santa Monica as it is full of families and tends to be very noisy as does the Holiday Centre.
2. The best pubs are Beach Boys(mainly because the staff are the friendliest), Mickies, Rockin Apples and The Hollywood bar and the best club is Turisme 35 (but only Sundays to Fridays as on Saturday it is strictly Spaniards only (only because the music on that night is aimed at them and basically is crap whereas on every other night the music usually caters for all tastes)
3. I can recommend Jordi`s Bar in the old town for food.
The steaks and Mixed Grills are brilliant and are also great value for money. There is also a really good Chinese called the Hong Kong which is on the main road separating the old and new towns. The meals in there are massive and again great value for money.
The beach is very long and wide and never too crowded and it costs 3 euros a day for a sunbed.
All in all Calella is a great resort that has something for everybody and I can heartly recommend it. |
