Caleta Garden: Hmmm.....a little more life to the place would be good by Scott Anderson |
| Posted 29 December 2007 about a visit in December 2007 | Overall rating: 6.9 |
stayed in Caleta Gardens room 133 from 19th - 26th December 2007.
On arrival the whole area of Caleta De Fuste was flooded as it had rained heavily. The hotel floor was very wet & slippery & most of the apartments electricity had tripped due to water.
Anyway, was allocated room 133, slept 3 if required, everything there for self catering puposes including kettle, toaster, cutlery, plates, microwave, cooker, fridge etc etc....so really good in that sense.
Apartments are cleaned 4 times a week, including fresh towels.
TV in room showing some english channels but you will be charged to watch it €12 + €5 for deposit for the remote control.
Safes are in room, again chargeable per week but bolted down & very secure.
Main entrance door to apartment was very secure, no access from outside unless with key but the patio door in this room was very dodgy....if u pushed the fixed frame outwards you were able to slide it open whilst it was supposedly locked, so be very aware of this!
Entertainment in the hotel is quite good actually, Tony is brill with the kids but felt as if the hotel couldve done a lot more for adults & xmas rather than play dated music. Hotel does have a happy hour (2for1)from 20:30-21:30 STRICT! pint of local beer €3.40, local spirits €3.40, Blue WKD €3.90, Smirnoff €4.50!...so a bit of advice, got out hotel cross over road & go into "Netto Supermarket", buy 200 "Progress" cigarettes (like Richmond KS) for €5.89...yes €5.89 & buy ur drink in their too.....have a few drinks before attempting the entertainment lol!!
Jacuzzi is solar powered/heated?? & bloody freezing despite saying that water temp is between 30-35c on the sign, sauna is broken, POOL IS FREEZING & i aint kidding, it takes a LOT of getting used too!
AVOID "IL PATIO RESTAURANT" (out main door of hotel, turn right & next to The Steakhouse which is superb) FOR A MEAL, SERVICE IS A SHAMBLES, FOOD IS TERRIBLE & THEIR "COULDNT CARE LESS" ATTITUDE LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED!
Chinese Buffet opposite Caleta Gardens is really nice & €8.80 per person eat all u can, dont eat at "Slowboat II" (out main hotel door n turn left) its rank!!.
"Scotch Corner" does a fab breakfast (Sandra ur a star cook by the way) although a little expensive still worth it considering you can get full breakfast for €3.50 down in the shopping complex @ "60's Bar" 2 mins walk from "Scotch Corner".
"Flower Of Scotland" bar is a good nite out, late night burger at "Last Chance", down stairs from "Flower Of Scotland"
The Dome, Slap & Tickle, Sean o G's, are all no bad nites out but dont expect the clubbing nitelife as it dont happen in Caleta De Fuste.
Beautiful man made beach (about 10 mins walk from hotel) but beware coz the folk hiring the sun loungers will try rip u off to tune of €6!!!!...my advice, buy a cheap beach towel n enjoy the sand, water is really nice & clean too.
Summing it all up, was a good holiday none the less, but quite limited as to what u can do if u dont have kids, its a kid friendly/family resort.
Make sure u hit the Market....haggle for they watches coz they will try €40+ for just one, i got 2 rolex's for €25 :-), dont let them hit u with big price, make ur offer be very firm & walk away if needed (rolex, gucci, rado, bretling, playboy) and handbags i got one for someone for €15 they will try to get €30+ for one if u aint firm in ur offer (prada, gucci, playboy etc)

Caleta Garden: Caleta Gardens by Amanda Mcloughlin |

I visited caleta gardens with my husband and 2 teenage daugters, it was our first time in Fuerteventura and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Caleta Gardens! The staff were great , the entertianment was great, the location was great: straight across the road to the shops, pubs and restaurants. We only ate in the restaurant once which was a buffet breakfast, very nice but a tad expensive so we ventured out and found our own places to eat.
The apartments are clean but beware the tiled floor is very slippery when the children have come straight from the pool up to the apartments dropping water behind them. I slipped twice in the corridor, once was down the stairs !!! That could have been fatal but luckily wasnt.
The only thing i didnt like was the pool, the kids could wander from the club out to the pool area , which isnt good for small children wandering around on their own! But all in all we had a fab time and would definately go there again!

Caleta Garden: Caleta Gardens Hotel by Linda Watcham |

I agree with Mick Hurst, I would also love to send my Mother-in-law to this hotel.
Although the rooms were lovely the Hotel in general was noisy and certainly not a place for couples without children. The pool area was quite sheltered and sunless for most of the time. Wouldn't go back.

We had a good stay at Caleta Gardens,we had a room opposite the shops/bars which was great the music used to stop around midnight which was ok.There were some apartments underground which we were glad we weren't in. Across the road from the complex was a childrens play area with trampolines bouncy castle/slide and climbing frames the kids loved it.It was a good walk to the beach which wasn't that nice.Right next to the beach was a small castle and a kids play area we used to head there most days as there was a good bar and pool area serving great lunchtime snacks.

Had a great holiday at the Caleta Gardens and would go back tomorrow given the chance! Staff were extremely helpful and cheery and couldn't be faulted. The place is also very clean. Kids club was excellent and couldn't be beaten. Location is great too, within walking distance of shops and beach. Very good range of restaurants and cafes all in surrounding area.
