Calimera Moderna Beach: We are going back! by Tiziano Aspetti |
| Posted 25 April 2006 about a visit in June 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
My wife and I stayed in the Calimera Moderna Beach for 17 days in June 2005.
The hotel, I think, is only working with Tours Operators (All-Inclusive package holidays), we could count people from Belgium (like us), Italy, France, Nederland, Germany, UK, Spain, Russia, Slovakia, Romania and other unknown at least to us.
The hotel is built in a U shape double story building with the upper part of the U pointing to the private beach. The air conditioned hall, in the upper floor, is huge with shops and a bar; on the lower floor there are more shops, billiard, a gym, a coiffeur salon, an Internet room (to pay – the connection is rather slow) and another bar. Both bars give access to a terrace from which it is possible to go to the central court with the swimming pool. The latter in is the form of a flower (?) and is not very deep (1.6 mt). On the side of the pool towards the beach there is …..yes indeed, another bar/snack bar for late breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack. After the bar there are spaces for kids plays, a large chess checker with big pieces (or, if you like and find enough people, live pieces). Next comes a large amphitheatre, with another bar, then an open space follows to end with a couple of Bedouin tents where you can savour a very tasty tea or/and smoke the water pipe (the name of the pipe slips my mind in this very moment), though for tea and pipe you have to pay. After another open space you reach the Beach.
The beach is provided with sunshades and moveable windscreens; a bar/snack-bar is at the entrance of the beach. Volleyball and bocce courts are also located on the beach.
I forgot to say that there is plenty of green and flowers all over except in the open space, but in June 2005 they were working on the space close to the beach.
The food is incredible, I am Italian and a little hard to content, but I was very content, so was my wife who is Belgian. You can eat inside with the air conditioner or on the terrace. We didn’t try the restaurant Toscani (to pay), because I think that All Inclusive should be ALL Inclusive and the food in the normal restaurant was good anyway. Once a week there is a special fish dinner with a nice local show (to pay, but each participant receive a nice jellabah –and should wear it during the dinner-). We did participate to this event and we enjoyed it.
The room was clean, comfortable and large (we were given a corner room that was double size, double airco, plenty of couches) with TV, phone, hairdryer, mini-bar with soft drinks (replenished everyday) and also a safe, that was not foreseen in the room so I don’t know if it is in all room.
There was acceptable entertainment throughout the day and every evening.
A free shuttle bus (to be booked in advance) is available to Naama Bay and/or Sharm City and also to another hotel of the same Network where you can spend the day, meals included, with no extra payment, where there is a better snorkling bay.
A doctor is on duty all day long, unfortunately enough, I had to find out the hard way for a mild sunstroke.
We are booked for the 15 June to go back for 15 days. This is the overall review for the Calimera Moderna Beach Hotel.
My English is not very good so forgive me for the mistakes. There is more to say, but at the moment I can’t find some English words essential for the descriptions.

How did it go? I'd really like to know.
