We stayed here as part of our multi-centre honeymoon, and were very impressed with the standards.
The hotel is well-situated, only a few minutes walk from the subway and shopping centres. It was also an easy walk to restaurants and Raffles.
As we were honeymooners, we were upgraded to the Carlton Club - rooms on the top two floors, with access to their own lounge for breakfast and afternoon drinks. Breakfast was a buffet arrangement with a fair selection (including a curry if you're feeling brave enough!!). The views from the breakfast lounge were excellent.
The room was large, clean and well-equipped. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar, while not cheap by Singapore standards, were of a good standard.
As there's so much else to do and see in Singapore, we didn't use the pool facilities, so I can't comment on them, I'm afraid!
One general comment about Singapore as a whole - if you're going there as part of a holiday with a package company, you'll be offered a number of excursions. However, it's often cheaper and more flexible to do them yourself using public transport, which is amazingly clean, efficient and cheap. We visited both Jurong Bird Gardens and the Night Zoo independently and were glad we did - not only do you save money, but you set your own timetable and you don't get taken to some tourist trap on the way, as you do with the coach excursions.
