Pros:- Central location. Friendly staff. Lovely pool and terrace for relaxing. Excellent breakfast. Nice bar lounge.
Cons:- Small room. Tiny wardrobe. Lots of internal noise.

Ideally positioned for the centre of Barcelona and transport links. However in comparison with other 4* hotels we have stayed in we felt this one could do better.
The reception area is rather more grand than the bedroom we were allocated which was small and a bit shabby. Wardrobe space was totally inadequate for 2 people, there was no drawer space and the bathroom had a lot of cracks in the marble tiles. Also the hotel should invest in sound-proofing as we found there was excessive noise from nearby rooms and corridors making it impossible to sleep well.
The pool and terrace area are an oasis for relaxing but the pool is only suitable for cooling off as anyone wanting to swim will be disappointed to find the water only waist deep. Breakfast at €13 is superb value, offering an impressive buffet to cater for all tastes and the breakfast room and waiting staff are excellent. The large bar lounge has ample room to relax and again the staff are very good. We cannot comment on the restaurant as we did not use it.
This hotel's 4* rating is doubtful - such niceties as slippers and bathrobes are usually provided and in our experience most quality hotels have upgraded their old CRT TVs to flat screens but unfortunately none of these are provided at the Duques de Bergara.
However we shall probably use this hotel again because of its central location.
