Visited with our two grandchildren for a short break. On our arrival at around mid-day we were told our room was still occupied and could we come back in a couple of hours. Not a very good start !! We left our luggage and wondered down into the city on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Arrived back at hotel a few hours later and shown to our room through a maze of passageways to a basement room with a view of the back cellar steps. The room was uninspiring to say the least. There was no wardrobe, only a rail with 2 coathangers between 4 of us. No drawers to put anything away, only a couple of side tables. We did ask for and were given a few more coathangers but the majority of our clothes had to be left in cases on the floor. The room was freezing cold and the central heating did not work so again we mentioned this and were given an electric heater. So after going out for an evening meal we spent the night huddled up on the bed, watching tv and trying to keep warm. The "en-suite "shower was a disaster as the shower water seemed to run out everywhere and as the room was so small there was nowhere to put your clothes without them getting soaking wet. Continental breakfast was adequate but the basement dining room was very small and claustrophobic and didn't make you want to linger over a leasurly coffee. Reception area was quite pleasant with a couple of settees a fridge and internet access. The location was an easy walking distance to Buckingham Palace etc. but that is all I could say in it's favour.
