We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was very spacious and clean. Well equiped kitchen (although no dishwasher unfortunately), good size lounge with dining area. Bedroom was twin beds, but they can be moved.
Hotel facilities were good, although the outside pool area is quite small and must get very busy in peak season. Indoor pool and gym in a different block of apartments to the ones we stayed in, but they were free to use - although there is nothing to tell you about them, so ask at reception.
Quite a lot of building work going on, building another block of apartments at Cerro Mar, although they look like they will be very nice when finished. Luckily our balcony overlooked the pool instead. Didn't bother us though, didn't hear any noise from it.
Walk into town is down quite a lot of steps, we didn't have any problems, but not the place to stay if you are unfit! Great location though, as walk into town takes less than 5 mins and you are then in the main square in the old town, with plenty of restaurants, shops and bars.
Great value for money for the time of year we went, and I would recommend it, although maybe not at high peak times when it will be really busy.

Cerro Mar are very clean and spacious. Nice pool and reasonable bar food. Good location above old town, only drawback is walk to and from town(although courtesy bus is provided at certain times)
Walk into town is ok, but walk back is very steep, aout 1 in 3 and about 1/2 mile(works off dinner though)
All in all, very nice apartments in nice area of Albufeira
