Cesme shopping

10.0
The main street is the centre of the shopping area although there are shops down the cobbled streets. Please barter with the shop keepers as this is welcomed and is great fun. İt should be noted that the shop keepers DO NOT hassle you to buy compared to other turkish tourist resorts. İt is not that sort of place.

Cesme nightlife

There is nightlife in Cesme but the town is not like Bodrum. There are bars and nightclubs (open in summer until 5am) but it is a very refined and cultered town. Cesme is not dangerous of a night time and it is extremely rare for any pickpockets and violance etc to take place.

Cesme restaurants

10.0
The best restaurant that we ate at was The Venue (by Garanti Bank). The building used to be an old Church Rectory which has been fantasically restored and now offers a la carte dining, great ambience and candle lit dining but it was NOT expensive. The food presentation was excellent as were the meals and we ate there most nights indulging ourselves with the a la carte menu, ambience and candlelit dining. İt certainly is a must for a fine quality meal (although not expensive). İt is owned by an English woman and her Turkish husband. FANTASTİC.

The other restaurant we tried was The Olive Tree. Nice meal but far too many cats around inside the restaurant. For real Turkish food İmren Restaurant is a must. Escueto (Mexican) offers mexican food and good atmosphere too.

Cesme attractions

The Castle (Kale) opposite the harbour has been restored and a walk through the Castle grounds is such an experience. You can feel yourself there during the Ottoman times.

İn the centre of Main Street there is an old Church (about 300 hundred years old). Attached to this Church there was a garden area (which has now been taken away a long time ago) and a Church Rectory (which still remains).

Cesme day trips

There are many boat trips in the summer season most of which visit three different islands. The boat trips are not expensive and last from 10am until approx 6pm all for a price of about 8 pounds each.

Cesme History and Culture

Cesme is a small fishing village on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. İt is not very commercialised but has lots to offer for tourists and Turks.

Getting to Cesme

9.0
You can either fly to İzmir (about an hour from Cesme) or come by Ferry Boat from İtaly. İt is easy to get to Cesme by car - straight motorway but be aware Turks do not generally use motor signals!!

When to visit Cesme

Although the weather is hot in the summer months (as you would expect for Turkey) the cool breeze is a constant one and very very welcome. The Turkish people are lovely and so welcoming, they do not hassle you like in other turkish resorts.
