Club Atlantis: great relaxing holiday by Lynne Smith |
| Posted 30 October 2005 about a visit in September 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
My husband and myself stayed at the Club Atlantis in a private rented studio for one week and found it to be the perfect place for aquiet, relaxing holiday. As soon as we got there we knew we were going to like it. The aparthotel itself is very clean, both inside and out at the pool area. There was no noise at nights from traffic, pubs etc. It was mostly couples that stayed there when we were there, I think it would be like this most of the time as there is nothing much for young ones to do. There is a pool table and a football table beside the pools but there is no daytime or evening entertainment, which suited us fine, we could get a good sleep or read our books by the pool. There are plenty of sun loungers so it was great not to have to get up at the crack of dawn just to get one! The drinks from the pool bar are of a very generous size and not too expensive either, dont know about the snacks we didnt try them, but there were plenty who did. Our apartment was privately owned as quite a few are, so it had all the little extras you would expect, but Im sure being a four star, the rooms you can rent direct fron C.A. would be of a high standard, we didnt even have one cockroach in the room the whole week.
There are many restaurants right beside the hotel, there used to be one in the hotel but it is closed for refurbishment. We liked the china garden( across the road in the Puerto Colon centre ) which was really cheap and food was really tasty. There are a few small supermarkets in this centre for you daily needs but it is so cheap to eat out it is not worth cooking.
We ate most mornings down at the seafront at The Oceano, where we had a full breakfast for 1.50 euros each. If you are out on a walk about and come across Bella Pasta take away pizzas, do take one away, they are delicious.
Up the hill a short walk is the San Eugenio centre, which is a new place with lots of designer shops and a few restaurants and cafes. The indian one upstairs is great.
We went to various places at nights for entertainment, we enjoyed the Tucan up the hill, you can see an Elvis night, a Rod Stewart night, a Chubby Brown night ( hilarious ) and many more.
In the mornings we had a walk along by the marina which is a 2 minute walk from C.A., and then on to the Geranium walk which is a promenade that goes either way of Las Americas for long enough!! This is nice in the morning as it is not quite so hot.
Most afternoons we went to the beach as it was about 25-30 degrees, we went to get a bit of sea air. If you have taken your children with you there are things for them to do down there and also trampolines etc in the puerto colon centre.
We walked to the waterpark one day, about 15 mins walk uphill, great to work off all that food! Its not a huge park but plenty of slides for us as we are 37 & 39 years young, and the dolphin show was well worth seeing. We are going to take our three children with us the next time, they love water parks and with the added bonus of the dolphins they would love it.
On a Thurs and a Sat morning there is a market about five minutes walk away,it is a busy place, but a good market. If you dont know how to get to somewhere ask at the reception as the staff will give you small maps and point out how to get there. They are really helpfull. They will also phone for a taxi for you if you need to get to the airport, we needed one at 4am and it came within a couple of minutes. It is a 20 minute taxi ride away and is 20 euros, much better than the bus transfers.
So all in all, we think this is a brill place to stay if you want to relax in peace during the day, but want to have plenty of choice of night time entertainment on your doorstep. Once you have stayed here I think you will want to go back, we certainly do, and will !!

Club Atlantis: Club Atlantis Aparthotel by S Fox |
| Posted 13 January 2004 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
I stayed in Club Atlantis in a 2 bedroom bungalow from 12-19 September 2003. The apartment was had plenty of space to accomodate the 5 of us. The 2 bedroomed ones sleep 6 incase you were wondering!!
There are 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge/dining area with sofa bed that sleeps 2. A balcony that has great views over the harbour and in the bedroom downstairs there is another patio area with garden.
The following week 19-26 September 2003, I moved into a studio apartment as my friends were only going for a week. The studio was very nice, large bathroom, kitchen, dining area, the lounge was divided in 2 with 2 beds and then a seating area and balcony.
I would definitely recommend this complex to anyone, so much so infact I have booked to go again March 2004. This time I will have a 1 bedroomed apt so it will be interesting to see how this compares to the other 2.
There are always plenty of sunbeds (you needn't pre-book.....ie:- rush down with your towels in order to get one!!!). You could pop down to the 3 pools ......yes i said 3 pools....at any time of the day and get one. The complex is right next to the harbour, and also the beach, with plenty of bars and restaurants to go to when it gets to hot to sunbathe!
It is situated in the San Eugenio part of Playa De Las Americas and there are plenty of shops and supermarkets for those essential items......wine, vodka, snacks and loo roll!
I hope this review helps you to make a decision, as I said it is worth every penny!
