Club Maspalomas I: excellent by jack Barker |
| Posted 20 June 2008 about a visit in June 2008 | Overall rating: 9.3 |
ive just come back from club maspalomas for two weeks, i found the bugalow small with minimal fasilities but when your on holiday you dont usually need them as you will be out everyday and night seeing the sites.
the pool was just the rite depth, at 1metre 20, the service from the staff is very good, and if you like a beer like me between 4-5 there is HAPPY HOUR ! two for the price of one 1.
the are a number of sunbeds as the place is very quiet, apart from the weekends when the locals come for a weekend break, the place is very tidy and looks respectable, the cleaners look very scarey but they are very nice and wont get in your way when you are in the bungalow.
the food in the premises is the only let down because its not cooked well so we only ate there once, but if you take a short walk for about 10 minutes max then you will come accross faro 2 which has a number of resturants and bars, but if you take a taxi ( which are very cheap !) you can go to the beach where there is more bars and resturants,
about club maspalomas every bungalow is close to the pool and you have a number of activities todo ei tennis, football, volley ball, pistol shooting and rifle shooting ! etc...
there is a little shop on the premises which is open 24/7 where you can get all your basic needs.
ther are a number of wild cats and kittens around but they are fine ! they do not have rabies and they like a bit of milk in the evenings but thats down to you if you wana do it or not,
the other comments are ok i.e, the bungalows are very small but everything is the that you need i will definatly go back one day and i recomend trying club maspalomas 1 !!

Club Maspalomas I: Very very basic. by Susan Harvey |
| Posted 24 August 2006 about a visit in September 2005 | Overall rating: 5.7 |
Club Maspalomas was very clean but very basic. While we were there the temp rose to over a hundred degrees. THe bungalow felt like a sauna and to add to this the heat that came from the back of the fridge( because it was working overtime)was terrible. You could hire a fan from reception for 15 Euros a night which I thought was extremely expensive. Pool area very pleasant, although the sun beds are a little close together and can not be moved. If you are English and are thinking of taking children I would advice you not to. There was a childrens club but it seemed to me that only the Germans were catered for.Maspalomas is a lovely place if came again would not stay at Club Maspalomas. There was no entertainment to speak of , of an evening.

Club Maspalomas I: Quiet and Minimal by Alastair Barr 81 |
| Posted 15 March 2005 about a visit in February 2005 | Overall rating: 6.5 |
Just back from a week in the Maspalomas 1 bungalows. Set in a very quiet area of Maspalomas so very little road noise to contend with. Bungalows are very basic with three beds ? 4 including the living area would only recommend suitable for two adults or two adults with very small child.
Kitchen area basic no real storage for food but we found it adequate as we only ever had breakfast.
Pool area was clean plenty sunbeds pool 1metre 20 deep all round, pool bar and food available
The area itself is very close to the faro 2 centre and has a courtesy bus to maspalomas beach though the walk can be very pleasant if you are that way inclined.
We were lucky with the weather as the local bar people told us that it had been very bad weather for the last 6 weeks with many bar owners mainly the british deciding not to open at this time.
The best bar by far in the far 2 centre is the Banana Tropical Bar you can't miss this, the staff do their best to entertain as well as serve the punters some to the extreme, the music is loud and lively and many a good night we had !! that I can remember.
All and all a good budget break if you are not looking for frills.

Club Maspalomas I Reservations |
Club Maspalomas I: Basic but functional and quiet by Steve Worsley |
| Posted 25 February 2005 about a visit in January 2005 | Overall rating: 6.5 |
The apartments at Club Maspalomas 1 are small bungalows arranged in groups of four. The apartments are very small and basic but we found ours to be clean and functional.
The main bedroom had both a standard double and single bed. The beds were very hard as the matresses are on top of a concrete base. There is a reasonable size double wardrobe with a safe inside (Keys chargeable from reception).
The kitchen is exteremely small and basic with only a fridge and double electric rings. There is no oven, grill or microwave (although such things can be hired for a charge from reception). There is a small fixed wooden table also in the kitchen area (see photo).
Adjoining the kitchen is the lounge area with a setee that can convert into a single bed suitable for a child. There is a small TV set but you need to pay via a coin operated mechanism at the rate of Euro 1,50 per hour. I thought this was excessive considering the channel choice was limited.
There is a patio area with table , chairs and two sun loungers per apartment which is set in extensive lawned grounds. The grounds are nicely landscaped and include Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball courts, Pool tables, Outdoor pool and a small childrens pool.
There is a restraunt on site (although technically part of the adjoining Club Rio Maspalomas 2 complex which adjoins. The two complexes share facilities) that serves a basic buffet breakfast and dinner service. Dinner was well priced at Euros 8,60 for adults although choice was limited and food could be cold nearer the end of the two hour sitting. There is no waiter / menu meal service.
There is a pool bar and a bar adjoins the restraunt, which also doubles as a concert room after 8:30 pm with family based entertainment (Kids Disco, Bingo, Karioki and Singers). Prices are typical for hotels in the area (e.g Euro 2,80 for a large beer).
Overall this is a reasonable choice for a small family looking for a quiet holiday on a budget. Sunset give this a 3 start rating but because of the small size and lack of facilities within the bungalows I would have thought 2 stars was a better reflection.
The bungalows are set in the Campo International area. This is a quiet area made up of bungalow complexes and private apartments near the golf courses. It is about 2Km from the beach area although the walk down is pleasant and the area is very flat. If you dont fancy the walk the complex offers a free bus service that runs twice daily (10:00 am and 11:00 am) from the complex. About 500m from the complex is the Fara 2 Shopping complex that contains a good selection of restraunts, bars and shops.
