Daphne Holiday Club: Fantastic by Karen Thomson 9 |
| Posted 08 August 2006 about a visit in July 2006 | Overall rating: 9.9 |
My partner and I have just returned from two weeks at the Daphne village and had a really enjoyable holiday. The apartment we stayed in was one of the furthest up the hill (not too steep) and gave us lovely views of the sea. For us the location of Daphne village was ideal because it was so peaceful by the pool during the day yet it would only take 5 minutes walk into the busy centre.
The rooms were well equipped compared to others we have stayed in in greece - there was a kettle and even a shower curtain! The free air conditioning was very much welcomed (i think this is only in July and August though)
The standard of cleanliness at the Daphne village is very high, our room was cleaned everyday (take your key to reception). Usually on holiday we spend more days at the beach than at a pool but this holiday it was the opposite way round. At first it didnt look like there would be enough sunbeds around the pool but we soon discovered it did not get overly crowded at all. We booked with kosmar but chose to do our own thing, hiring a jeep for three days from Hanioti village ('Status rent a car' were cheepest for us but do shop around for a deal) and also the mount Athos boat trip i would really recommend ('Bros travel' on the square).
I would recommend the Daphne, for the price i think it is one of the best ones around

Daphne Holiday Club: Go There by Simon Hall |
| Posted 27 July 2005 about a visit in June 2005 | Overall rating: 10.0 |
My wife and i have just returned from the Daphne Village. It is without doubt one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The whole complex is immaculate, the staff very friendly and the food is very good. We went self-catering but eat in the complex a couple of times. To be honest its so cheap and good we wished we had eaten there more often. It wipes the floor with a lot of the other eateries in Hanioti Square.
There are lots of restaurants and bars but to be honest many of them serve very average food(and that's being polite). The best we found were a small greek place near the square which i think was called the Olive Garden, its a long restaurant with lots of vines. Another was Anatol which is Italian (not bad) but not as good as Italian places in England. If you enjoy a really good curry we cannot recommend either of the Indians they have in the resort. They are truly awful.
The good side about eating out in Hanioti is that it's cheap. A meal for 2 with a couple of drinks will start at about £18.00.
Without a doubt the best place for having a meal, snack or drink and listening to music is AMETHYSTOS bar and restaurant. The food and service are second to none. (no we don't own shares in it). We're sure they have an english chef there because they know how to cook all types of food. You will not be disappointed eating there.
The whole area is beautiful and we hired a car through First Choice to see the sights. I f you want to book a car here's a tip.
Booked on the internet in England for 7 days a group c (skoda fabia) with full insurance for one driver cost us £167.00.
Booked in the resort through the first choice rep - £267.00 for exactly the same thing. You have been warned.
We drove all around the Kassandra and Sithonia Peninsulars and they are truly beautiful. Hire a car if you can. Its well worth it.
So there you have it. We had a fantastic holiday and would go back tomorrow if we could. Staying at the Daphne made the holiday. Its so peaceful and yet only a 10 min walk to the square and beach.
If you do decide to visit Halkidiki we hope you hve just as an enjoyable stay as we did.

Daphne Holiday Club: Brilliant by Craig Rogers |

I hate coming home from any holiday, this time it was different!
I REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE!!!!!!!!
The Daphne was fantastic, perfect!!!!!! In typical Greek style, don't expect a gold plated room, however, in typical Greek style the rooms are 5*. Anyway, go B&B, it only cost £18 extra for the 2 weeks!
The Pool is great, the Tennis Courts are great and the Table Tennis is great. All the staff are fantastic, but please guys, take a break!!!!!! The gardens are well looked after, watered about 3 times a day!
Hanioti is a fantastic place, the Daphne is the Cherry on the top!
If I could, I'd go back out tomorrow, no, today, in fact in the next 10 minutes, oh what the heck, I'm packing now!

Daphne Holiday Club: daphne villlage 2004 by Michelle Rickaby |

i have just returned from the daphne holiday club. (june 2004) i found this hotel a very pleasent place to stay perfect location although on the complex there is a bit of a steep hill to climb to get to the rooms and the pool. everything about the daphne hotel could not have been nicer. although rooms are quite basic they have brilliant views of hanioti from the balcony , air conditioning and the maid service is excellent. the staff is what makes the experience most enjoyable whether its from walking in to reception and being greeted by them with a smile and a chat. or speaking to the pool bar staff. obviously while drinking your cocktails. ( if you fancy learning greek dont hesitate to ask mikas for a few phrases great teacher!) i would certainately be recommending this place to my friends and hope to return there myself.
