| Dassia Review: Dassia (Aug 2004) | | Written by Sean Cunningham on 05 Sep 2004
| I went to Dassia this August for a weeks holiday, brill holiday except for some minor issues, the first being the road, it is horrendous to cross or even walk along, the constant traffic of mopeds, crazy creek drivers, buses, trucks, a lot of young people on mopeds, blatting along at breakneck speed, this I believe is Dassia's biggest downfall. I Found the road a law unto itself.
The second thing which kinda spoiled the holiday a bit was one specific resturant 'the chinese resturant', do not go there, the food was disgusting, a small tip, if the resturant is empty at peek times don't eat there, more than likely its complete rubbish. The resturant next to the Chinese 'The Mythos' abosolutely fantastic grub.
The best part of the holiday is seeing the Island, fantastic. If you have the oppotunity hire a jeep or car and explore. We came across a stunning beach Agious Georgeous - a must for a visit
A trip to Corfu town is an adventure, even just to experience the buses, if you like being in a boiling hot sardine tin, they cram and cram and cram and cram people on the buses, it can be bedlam. The bus drops you off near the port, It does not pick you up there, once you've managed to get lost in the tiny streets of corfu town, buy a map. youll need it , the bus picks you up at Rocco square, you may need directions to get there (visit the old fort if you can).
Overall the holiday was fantastic, but I wouldnt stay in Dassia, purely because of the traffic.
Quick tip always ask the taxi drivers how much to a destination first before you get in - the prices can vary. |
