Delfi: Very Rustic in heart of Bodrum a hidden Gem by Giselle Winthrop

Probably

Firstly..if you are looking for ultra modern this is not the hotel for you, secondly..if you are easy going laid back and want to stay somewhere pretty rustic than this is definately for you.

Staying here was my first visist to Turkey.I wanted to feel the real Turkey and I definately did.

I felt upon arrival that our room was in need of a revamp..still slightly stuck how it probably was in the 80's..but I am not one to let that put me off,a holiday is what you make it. The room was clean but basic. The pool area is really nice and I have stayed at some amazing hotels but felt this pool area was quiet and had a really nice atmosphere and never felt you had to rush to save a place to put your towel. The pool and surrounding area which included outdoor bar had vines growing everywhere with buttersquash lamps that were lit up at night, bar staff friendly and not so over powering music played through the day until around 1 am.

We stayed Half Board but did not feel any effort was made with evening meal. Breakfast was ok but also basic, would advise to stay self catering. It has alot of guests stay from Istanbul and locals use the hotel for meetings, coffee and to meet up to play chess and cards, which made it have a very realxed feel through the day. There is a gym, very small restuarant and main pool and lovely pool for kids,a large water slide that is great fun when swithed on which seemed to be around two hours of the day.

You can see up into the hills form pool area and just outside hotel grounds is a bar called Curly's which is very welcoming and serves great fresh seafood and will accomodate you to your every need. Also a small walk from hotel to the left is another bar called Besa, which became our local..they even have a childrens play room and really go out of there way to entertain and serve good reasonable priced food. Opposite the hotel is one of the original Tukish baths, which is a must for those looking for an ultimate experience in de-stressing whilst on holiday.

The hotel feels like you are in the countryside but only a hop skip and jump away and you are then in the heart of the hussle and bussle of bars amazing shops and sefront that comes alive at night, you must bartar!never pay the price they ask always knock them down,be cheeky and you will suprise yourself.

The sea front has a huge mixture of expensive bars and retaurants including cheap bars and cheap places to eat too aswell as tables set on the sand on the beach for you to dine at.

There is a local bus service that can take you anywhere with name of desination on bus and very cheap to get from A to B.

Bodrum suits every audience from young clubbers to family to elderly as It seems to have everything anybody could wish for in one area. The people made us feel like we would want to return the staff at the hotel made our stay welcoming, and we found the Turkish to be very family minded and always made a huge fuss over the kids and made them feel important too.

The maids show you respect if given back, our maid made towel arrangements on our beds and even came to clean when our room was not due a change of linen as she explained she knew what it was like with young children and that I should not be worrying about fresh towels.

I will not say its the frontline of ultra hotels as that would not be true, however for my first experience of Turkey and getting to know Turkey I felt we had been treat with a sense of them wanting us to come back..of which I am considering this year.

The package I paid for my holiday for a family of 4 was more than reasonable, the flights were quite costly, however the accomodation was not.

Eating out was fine as there are plenty of snack type places to eat through the day and you get a sense of which retaurants become your favourite at night, plenty of shops near hotel, chemists, bars and an abundance of visits, trips and boat trips to take also.

I would definately recommend this hotel to friends and family looking for a less expensive holiday with all the trimmings.

Rooms are quite basic, but were clean and tidy. Would stay here again.
