Dionysos Central: Not too bad at all at the Dionysos by Alec Webb |
| Posted 08 December 2007 about a visit in November 2007 | Overall rating: 7.6 |
It was mid November, so the main tourist season had finished. Things could be very different in high season. We had booked online before reading several poor reviews of this hotel, so our expectations were not high.
When we arrived late on Sunday night, they did not have a record of our booking. I had actually booked the cheapest standard of room, but we were given a much better room and our booking was sorted by the courier next day.
The hotel is T shaped with rooms at the top of the T looking south out over the pool towards the sea. These are the best rooms (and probably quietest in high season) Nos 201-7 and 301-7. Ours was 205. All other rooms are on the stem of the T and look sideways onto the streets.
The reception area is very pleasant, but with many steps so not ideal for people with mobility problems. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was quite acceptable.
Even though it was a good room the decor was all a bit jaded and had seen better days. The bathroom had a good deep bath and ample hot water. The shower head was broken but we were able to jam it into the fitting to give us something useable. The room was tidied each day but not cleaned thoroughly.
All the staff were eager to help and a joy to talk to. Absolutely full marks there.
The hotel is located in the centre of the tourist area so there are an abundance of restaurants, clubs, pubs and bars to choose from (although some are closed mid November). From our limited experience none seemed particularly better or worse than the others.
A week's stay, including flight from Stansted cost us £300 each, booked from Flydeals.com
If you're the sort of holidaymaker who likes to find fault, you'll have an enjoyable stay at the Dionysos - there's plenty of ammunition. However you'll also enjoy it if life's too short to worry about trivialities. Book it with confidence and enjoy your holiday.

Dionysos Central: best holiday ever by Kim Law |
| Posted 13 October 2005 about a visit in September 2005 | Overall rating: 9.5 |
Have just returned from the Dionysos Central Hotel. This was our 4th visit to Paphos - we absolutely loved it. Only one slight hiccup on arrival was told that they were fully booked and moved to another hotel just down the road. This hotel was disgusting and we went back to the Dionysos who found us a room. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in an ideal location. Weather fantastic. Staff at the hotel really pleasant and helpful. Hotel room was cleaned every day - would definitely recommend it to anyone. Am trying to book to return next September/ October for 2 weeks.
