We stayed at the Dom Pancho in August, (mainly British tourists with a few Portuguese people, especially at weekends).

When we first arrived and saw the front of the hotel i thought oh no... However, once inside i was surprised on how spacious it was. The rooms were bright, clean and airy, the air con was free and worked wonders. The kitchen had a mini oven which worked and was used to heat up our midnight feasts. There was also a free toaster; unlike the other self catering holidays i have been on whereby you are charged for almost everything.

The hotel had a large walk in library where you can exchange your books; we used this service frequently and there seemed to be a varied selection of books, (this may be due to the fact we stayed in August the most popular time of year).

The sunbeds were plentiful however,we did have to get up early for the beds. The staff were friendly and the maids cleaned our room, changing towels and bedding often. The hotel bar was expensive and we tended to go out for our meals and drinks.

The hotel was a leisurely ten minute walk to the strip, where there was an array of shops and bars. We had a superb meal at the steak house, expensive but very good quality. If you are looking for cheaper drinks and food then go up to the top end of the strip across the main road where Linekars bar is, all bars around there are cheaper.

If you are beach folks then this hotel i felt was too far away, we had a long trek with towels lilos etc, so often stayed by hotel pool. All in all a great holiday however i think i would stay at a different hotel as this was rather expensive for what we got, unless you get a last minute deal.

P.S. If anyone is thinking of going to Gibraltar from Portugal think again if you do not like long coach journeys. I must say the place itself was lovely and fantastic value for money however, we spent 12 hours on the coach (6 there 6 back) and then had 5hrs in Gibraltar. The rock, caves, monkeys etc fab but a very very very long day (set off 5 in the morning home for midnight) You could book it at the hotel far cheaper than with the reps.

Don Pancho: Good Choice by Mark Hatton

For just 28 quid per night between a group of three people, the Dom Pancho is an ideal place to stay if you are on a budget. I will be coming back here, nice comfortable apartments at a brilliant price, 8/10.

Don Pancho: Great time by David Bourne

Went here end of October beginning of November we were cocerened about the weather, so we chose these apartments because they have an indoor pool in case the kids got bored if it rained all the time. There was no worry on that score it was gorgeous 22C-24C.
These apartments have a supermarket outside and lots of smaller bars usually karaoke or sports a short distance. The lively strip is easily in walking distance as is the beach. The indoor pool is very small but the water is so hot it really does spoil you and makes the outdoor one seem really cold after. Tv is limited to a few channels only, English is Sky News, Eurosport and CNN. The poolside bar and cafe was well managed with beer 2.5 euros a pint. We are going again in February where it is so cheap only 25 euros a night for a one bedroom. Poor things about the place are there is a fair amount of graffitti about outside the apartments, and the electric hobs take ages, the security of patio doors leading onto the balcony was pretty non exsistent like the rest of the apartment every thing seemed to be held together by one screw. Not luxury by any means but clean comfortable and cheap which is all we are looking for with a young family.
