Donaire Park: Golden Donaire Park Hotel by Roy Clough |

Golden Donaire Park Beach
Went on a late deal allocated on arrival and for price paid cannot complain as we got what we paid for.
However this hotel is 90% exclusive to Thomson through their Skytours and Portland arms.
Being a Skytours hotel it is geared towards families and I was disappointed that 2 people with an average age of over 60 were allocated this hotel.
Location
Hotel is located in La Pineda which is about a 15 minute bus ride from the main resort on the Costa Dorada, Salou. La Pineda is basically just a long stretch of promenade and beach with usual fare of bars, restaurants and gift shops on one side of the road.
There is a good bus service into Salou and also to Tarragona one of the main towns in the area. Also it is easy to book trips to Barcelona far cheaper than those being offered by Tour Company.
Hotel is situated at the beginning of the resort with access to the beach yards away.
Large hotel, 410 rooms and room we had relatively small but did have a large balcony being on a corner. 3 lifts and these were never broken down at all, despite as usual, kids continually pressing the buttons.
If kids running around pool area don’t bother you then getting a sun bed seemed no problem at start of season but would be I suspect in July August, sun beds can be hired on beach price varied 4.50 euro one day 5 euro next.
Food
Overall usual fare and no real complaints, I found it more than acceptable.
Bars/Entertainment
One bar inside and one outside, also pool bar but not open week we went.
Entertainment usual type but being a family hotel difficult to get a seat on a night, plenty seats but seemed to be reserved for the kids running round the pool area!
Rooms
TV has two English channels but after about 7 p.m. only one, BBC World, other is BBC 1 but signal seems to freeze on a night.
Room we had as stated small but clean and plenty hot water.
There is quite a bit of building work going on very close to hotel but was not a problem to us.
If you are looking for a beach based hotel family orientated then the Donaire fits the bill.
Check In was terrible however, long queues out of reception to beach nearly, informed that it was because the hotel system was not showing late deals and calls had to be made to holiday company to verify bookings.
One other thing every day, there is African Women about 4 sat by Hotel entrance touting for the hair plait business, never unpolite to be fair, but appealed to kids.
Also if you are the Sunbed beach type be prepared to be approached by quite a few trying to sell anything and everything.

Donaire Park: Brilliant beach holiday by Pops |

This is the first time we have stayed half board and were not let down. The hotel is right on the beach - ideal for not having to carry bags, money, suncream, towels etc about. The beach was massive, extremely clean and quite empty (we did go at start of summer season - probably different story later in season. Watch out for sunbed "shark" - he waits till you are comfy then pounces and charges you the earth - he doesn't like it when you get up and walk away at that point lol).
The hotel was very clean and all staff are very friendly. We did not get towels left in our room once and complained, within minutes we had lots of towels delivered and sincere apologies. Balconies are a nice size and rooms are nice and comfortable.
The buffet at breakfast and night time was nice, once a week they lay on a special buffet and it was amazing. Lots of seafood and different foods.
The pool was nice and lots of sunbeds, the spa pool was lovely too. Could not fault this hotel and would definitely go back again.

we arrived at this hotel on 23rd oct 2004 at 21.45 we were expecting to be given a plate of leftovers from dinner as our meal but were very pleasantly surprised to be taken into the dining room where a full buffet had been laid out for us.Hotel was comfortable clean and staff very helpful.Food in dining room was fantastic every morning there was a full fry up with ENGLISH SAUSAGES (not german franks) and the hotel was closing immediately after we left on the sat night until the following may but food selection was as good on the last night as on the first day.La pineda is lovely very clean and for less than a £1 each way you could easily and fuss free get to salou and tarragona.Excellent hotel and location for a family holiday would definately go back again.

Donaire Park: OK by Kim |

Went here a few years ago with with our family, 8 of us in total. Demanded a move as we had 2 small children, and they put us on the top floor overlooking the bins (no balcony or anything!) at the back, the smell was awful and with a sheer drop to the ground, the window opened fully to which my sons could of easily fell to their death!!!!! My sister in law also had a room not big enough to swing a cat in, and very very dirty. We couldnt use the beach as there were lorry's going up and down constantly so it was unsafe for anyone to go in the sea incase they got knocked over and the dust from them was unreal. After about 4 days of this, the rep finally got us moved to another hotel in the heart of Salou which was fantastic. The only good thing about this hotel was the beach front location, the pool was great as was the food and the staff. To be honest, i think this hotel could be an ideal holiday location, we were obviously just there at the wrong time, even tho it was July!!!!
