We visited Eden Alcudia in 1st week July 2007. We thought it a brilliant hotel. Very clean, maids came every day except Thurs. Clean towels every day and beds were changed three times during our 12 day stay. Rooms a bit small. We had a studio which had three sofa beds which were quite comfortable. But we were never in the rooms other than to wash, change or sleep!

And the air conditioning was a godsend as the weather was glorious.

Staff were polite and friendly, gave us any info asked for and booked our trip to marineland with NoFrillsExcursions. Even the maids had a cheery "Ola" for us.

Pool area is great with 2 good sized pools and a smaller one for the kiddies. Sunbeds unlocked at 8.30 and there seemed to be the usual "put down the towels brigade" but we didn't bother with that as the beach is only about 100yds from the pool area.

And what a beach...gorgeous! Sunbeds there cost 7.oo euro for 2 and thats for the whole day.

Nice pool bar with a very jolly manager who loved the kids...and us too ..but he was very patient with the little ones. Other staff very friendly. We thought they were Spanish but it turned out they were from the Chec Republic. They were great !!

Can't comment about the food as we were self catering and ate out most of the time. But for those who are really into their self catering then I must warn that this consists of 2 rings and a fridge. Kettlle and toaster have to be hired...dont know how much as we didnt bother!

Plenty of good restuarants in the vincinity with more to choose from in the Port area a short taxi ride away. I recommend(sp) Smiths for a good english breakfast.. staff there were brilliant..very friendly... turn left out of the hotel and its 1st or 2nd on left.....and the El Toro in the port area for a good steak.

Now, a word warning , this hotel seems to be very geered towards the German clientele both as regards food and entertainment. But it did peeve a Scottish friend we had met as he struggled with a quiz when he couldn't understand the broken english of the compere. We laughed and took the mick that he was taking it way too seriously.

But my 6yr old g'daughter made lots of friends. Children play together whatever the language and she was very welcomed by the German parents of her new friends. She loved the kids club.

In summary this is a great hotel if you want to be at the quieter end of things but not too far away from the hustle and bustle.

We had a room facing the road and were kept awake , not by drunks (never saw one the whole 12 days) but by the scooters which kept driving past or the cleaning brigade in the morning...so look for a room with a pool view...much quieter.

Great hotel, great location and would go back tomorrow if I could!!

    Eden Alcudia: beds
20 Aug 2007 by Dawn Ray
are there proper beds in the studio rooms or are they sofa beds you have to make up each night?

i cannot see any mention of beds in any write ups about the hotel.

In the studios there are three sofa beds. They are made up every day(no bed making)..all you have to do is throw off the back cushions and remove the outer cover and hey presto....in the morning they are made up to a seating area again. I think the 1bed apartments have a proper double bed with sofa beds for the kids in the living area.
