I entered into a comp on Capital FM and won a weeks holiday in spain. El pinar Hotel is where i was sent. It was OK not great. The room was basic but clean and our balcony face straight onto a brick wall.

I recommend that if you book here you do not eat in the complex as the food is bad and i became quite ill on the second day. It is a 10 minute car ride into town where you will not find many restaurants at all. The pools were nice at the hotel but did not have many sun beds and it was full of Stag and hen parties which is not so good.
if it is just yourself and your boyfriend and drunk men try and chat you up while you are laying next to you partner on the sun loungers. This was a no no for me, would have been really annoyed if i had paid. The only good thing about the week was the sun.

We were allocated on arrival in Torremolinos and El Pinar is where we were sent. We were allocated into the apartments which were no way 4* they were more like 2*. We had to wait 2 hours to check in because all the rooms were full, then when we saw our room we nearly cried. We were on the top floor with a 2 and 3 year old, and the balcony was loose. We complained an were sent to another room, which had the workman's tools all over it. Again we complained, and we had to take a smaller room where one child had to sleep on the settee, and the other had to borrow a camp bed, but as it was on the 2nd floor we kept it!!
Cockroaches were in the room on a daily basis, and we had to call for them to be remobved on some occasions.
The rooms were kept clean and the staff were very friendly. We were robbed while in the resort and they upgraded us to the half board option. This was a very nice gesture as we had no money for a couple of days, but the food was awful. There were 2 small pools but there weren't a lot of sunbeads so you must get there early. Also DO NOT eat at the poolside restaurant if you value your health!!
There was a courtesy bus that took you to the town or the beach (1 stop each) this was a welcome sight because the town was too far to walk into and it was mainly across main roads. In the town itself there wasn't much too do. There were a few nice eating places but it was pretty old and run down really. We much preferred to get the bus down to the beach and then walk into the next resort of Benalmadena which was the total opposite. The food was delicious, and it was so much cheaper. We really wish we had stayed here instead!! We trekked there eraly each morning and spent most of the days there walking back to Torremolinos at night, then paying 6 euros for a taxi to the hotel.
We were robbed in Torremolinos so watch your bags! I wouldn't go back there and I wouldn't recommend it. It is an older resort and there are a lot of very rude Spanish ladies who live there. This is probably the worst holiday that we have been on. Next year we are going to Sidari in Greece.
