Espana: Hotel shrouded in tarpaulin!! by Patricia Andrews |
| Posted 09 January 2008 about a visit in December 2007 | Overall rating: 7.1 |
The rooms in the Espana were very clean, the service was excellent, the breakfast was not excellent quality food but quite adequate. I went with a group of 9 friends and all our rooms were different, this is a very old hotel and most of our rooms looked onto inside courtyards, we didn't have an outside window. Some of the rooms had toiletries provided but not all. We all had hairdryers and a telephone and that was it but everything was very clean. The location was excellent, just down a side street from the Ramblas, which compensated for the fact that the hotel was shrouded in scaffolding and tarpaulin - when we first approached it we got a shock - it looked as though it was closed down!! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Espana: Interesting Hotel in excellent location by Alan Mcloughlin |
| Posted 01 December 2006 about a visit in November 2006 | Overall rating: 8.1 |
The Hotel was certainly different, very old world Spanish with very interesting architectural features, the Dining Room was amazing.
The rooms were clean and quite spacious, nice bathroom with a very noisy extract fan. The bedroom was a little hot through the night and the A/C did not work.
The Continental Breakfast was good and kept well stocked.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The best bit was the hotels location just 80 metres or so from the Ramblas. This made for easy site seeing and eating//drinking out.
For a 2 star hotel we were pleasantly suprised and have already recommended the place to friends.
