We Stayed at the Fanabe in 2001 (before it's upgrade in 2004).
Food - Very good, we stayed half board and didn't really need to stray from the hotel to survive. Lots of food theme nights. Seem to make there money on the drinks served at the table and at the time was heavily biased toward cash as opposed to credit card settlements.
Pool - No complaints at all, very good private roof pool, good views across Fanabe from there. Nudist section up there tastefully done, (no need to worry about the kids!).
Rooms - Seemed to have to have a cooking area in the room which would indicate previous use as an Aparthotel, these may have been removed since the upgrade, otherwise all ok, fridge that worked, hot water that didn't go off, TV that spoke English ( apart from the Spanish cartoon of "Speederman" -catches thieves like flies) and air con that was half decent. Pool view is good and isn't spoiled at night by raucus behaviour
Entertainment - good both daytime and evening. As detailed the poolside entertainment finishes at a reasonable hour and then descends to the "disco" in the basement. This leaves the pools free for quiet enjoyment. Internal entertainment seems good and aimed at both Summer and Winter
Staff - Multilingual, patient, calm and collected, this can be interpreted as a little off hand but in truth isn't.
General - English residents not in the main there, but not bad thing, makes for a very calm and interesting time, we met American, Irish, Dutch, German, French, and Lanzarotian people. All of whom were a pleasure to meet.
Reps - We went with Thompson's last minute and reps when they were there were good but you did have to seek them out, it may have changed now.
Trips - Each to their own, the only thing I would say is if you are going up to see Tiede it's worth renting a car, it's very weather dependant. Worth just gauging the weather and renting a car for the day and whizzing up there.
Overall - we took our kids, girl 15, boys 13 and 11 and had a good time, bit for them bit for us. Walk to the beach is not overlong but there is a bit of hill coming back.
Worth a 4 star rating, unless you are very choosey I think most people would find they had a good time here. We would go back here.

Just back from this Hotel having stayed there the last week in November. Very nice hotel in a lovely area of Tenerife. It takes about 5 mins to walk to the beach but about 15 on the way back due to the hill. Lovely pool in the hotel but it doesn't get the sun all day. It is heated so all year round swimming. Excellent roof area for sunbathing, very spacious and well kept. It too has two splash pools although they are not heated. Food was ok and we found it caters for the German/Italians more but no complaints as they make up the majority of guests. Staff very friendly. All in all a very good Hotel worth it's 4* rating.
